anyway.. back on topic; finally got the R muffler fitted and very happy with the result

MK7 Golf R muffler $100
Res delete $150
trim removal DIY
Muffler retrofit $300 (left the valves closed)
...DSG farts at 3k rpm

Echoing others thoughts- this is how it should come from factory. It looks better and sounds better than stock. If you are considering this, highly recommend

just want to add, learned that the tips on the 7R muffler are sleeves that can be adjusted/moved.

i.e. you can stagger the tips or have them straight line - adjust to your hearts desire!

also means removable for cleaning

i looked for it but couldnt find it on the tips? any specific area i need to look for the adjustments?

No chance, the drone in the first week was deafening, to the point I was thinking of putting the resonator back on. The wife has even noticed that the drone has improved significantly.

If the R muffler was used then the carbon buildup would have already been there so drone would not get less over time?

Its an MK7.5 R muffler which only had about 1000 kms done on it. I also have the resonator delete. I dont know how or why but it has definitely toned itself down.

Valves are closed by default on my exhaust.
No drone whatsoever.

I've run this setup for a while now, happy with it.
While I wish I did have a switchable exhaust setup I wouldn't remove the valves as the car would be way too loud in the mornings when I leave for work.

Awesome. Thanks for that. I find open valves with stock res doesn't cut it for me[emoji39]. While i would love to have a controller for getting my inner child out every now and then , for now closed valves with res delete will suffice haha.

Once you install an aftermarket downpipe you will notice the biggest noise increase, your drone may come back.

It is Supersprint after all. When I bought my R36 back in 2010 they quoted me almost $13K for a full kit from the engine back. Pfft.
Pisses me off that there are no measurements or detail of any sort available, it would be nice to know.

they just slide... ie pull on them and they will move
