Gee that was quick, the side valve morris minor I had a copper system on did not get to sixty except down a steep hill then stopping it was the big problem.

Agreed, but the R-line option is a $4k upgrade just for body kit and R badges, so imagine they would push closer to $8k I would think. Maybe throw in the AID to differentiate some more from 162?

Like the GTI and Golf R, I think there’s room for both...

      • They all need Hiclones on them to help decrease fuel consumption as one helps by 20% according to advertising.

Im going to fit 2 and reap the rewards. Might also fit a Brock Polariser as well to get to 50 % saving.

anyway.. back on topic; finally got the R muffler fitted and very happy with the result

          MK7 Golf R muffler $100
          Res delete $150
          trim removal DIY
Muffler retrofit $300 (left the valves closed)
          ...DSG farts at 3k rpm

Echoing others thoughts- this is how it should come from factory. It looks better and sounds better than stock. If you are considering this, highly recommend

thanks to twyat1 for taking all my questions and all the others for pioneering this.

Pic of the connection of the R muffler to stock system? Did you extend the tips or place muffer furter to the rear to suit?

connected to stock piping just before the muffler

tips are extended. there is no other way

the R muffler fits to existing hangers then tips are extended

                    • just want to add, learned that the tips on the 7R muffler are sleeves that can be adjusted/moved.

i.e. you can stagger the tips or have them straight line - adjust to your hearts desire!

                      also means removable for cleaning

                          • Hey guys, I picked up & installed a MK7.5 Golf R rear muffler with the actuators & Res delete this morning. Can confirm that the valves are in an open position, the guys fed a camera down the pipe to confirm as some of them were saying they would be closed & others saying it is open & will only close once it gets power - sorry if this has already been answered earlier...

I opted to have the tips chopped off & for the pipes to angle down like the stock so not to change the look of the rear. Sounds really nice but I notice a lot of droning at low revs. Anyone else experiencing this? Should I put the resonator on or you think we have to have the tips coming out the bumper rather than staying behind it?
                            $400 for the muffler
$250 for cutting tips & install

                            • I absolutely think having the tips out the rear make a complete difference in the acoustics. I didn't go the mk7.5 because there were some differences.

from my research the only difference was the tips are slightly wider apart. unless you think internally, the muffler is different?
