  • Thanks guys. I'll keep looking and will probably ring some tuners. Got any to recommend around the Sydney area?

Just ring around all the APR, Revo, Etuners, Underground Performance dealers. They should all be listed on the company websites.

        • So I picked up a MK7.5 exhaust today, can I ask if this the valve that if left opened will result in a louder exhaust? If so, do I just manually open/close the valve by turning that round dial. Does leaving it closed have any restrictions on the exhaust?

Yes correct. You an hear a lower or higher pitch when you close/open the valve. If you want to check if it's closed you can put a piece of wire down there.

It is slightly more restrictive but you probably wouldn't notice the power drop. It will be minimal.

            • Ta. Does the stock tiguan have a valve controller that can be placed onto that exhaust? Or anything I can purchase to achieve?

Nothing stock. There’s no wiring for a valve controller as no Tiguan had a valves exhaust.

Some people have put in an AWE switch, however it’s quite expensive (~$500) for something you can just do manually. AWE just has a remote and won’t open/close on RPM or S mode selection.

                • Right. Thanks mate. Might weld a little handle onto the round dial to make turnining it manually a bit easier.

What it cost to fit the cat back of a golf r exhaust? Everyone seems to be pretty happy for an upgrade in exhaust sound without murdering the sound waves for your neighbours which I like the sound of. Might free up a couple of ponies especially if your stg3?

Also, seems like hammering out those fake chrome bits is an art, any particular shops in Sydney which can do without breaking everything

A few guys here have done it at Kirrawee Exhaust. I'm getting mine done with a friend. Will give it a crack to remove the fake trimming myself.

Thanks for sharing this! No wonder the sound coming out is so muffled! Was there the same fibre insulation at both ends or just the one?

Oddly enough it looks like it's just on one side going by the soot markings on the section that was cut out.
