Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

That's great thanks, interesting comparing yours to my UK with TJA

    • Jap: I've no doubt that it is interesting, but the more that I correspond with various colleagues (here and other forums), the more convinced I am that retrofitting TJA is not just changed code-string on various control modules.

My hypothesis is that in addition to code/adaptation changes, TJA is "SWAP" (Software as Product) and as such it requires an individual activation code that's specific to the car's VIN - and I susect that there are firware upgrade requirements as well. SWAP is a time honored technique that VAG uses for lots of features in their cars.

But I would be delighted to be proven wrong!

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

      • Couldn't agree more, but it's worth a little look, otherwise we wouldn't have half the mods that people are doing, I also thought about the firmwares when it was posted that one of them was changed to 271, but mine is the same as people's who haven't had it enabled,

Hate to say it but I have come to the conclusion that you are correct. Comparing the differences in the coding for Module 13 (ACC) between mine and @Hugo_nz plus the Golf MK7.5 with TJA I am 99.9% sure it is to do with Byte 13 (theirs are set to 40 while non-TJA are set to 30). As soon as I change this on mine I get warning up on the AID saying Front Assist not available and a fault is logged stating "Control module incorrectly coded".

Looking at the coding of Byte 13 and the change that is made by going from 30 (Bit 4 & Bit 5 Enabled Only) to 40 (Bit 6 Enabled Only) it changes SWaP_FSID_group_3 from 3 to 4. To me this says that TJA is in fact a Software as Product (SWAP) upgrade and as such only done by VW.

          • And what about byte 6? Did you change that too? Which is to do with front assist and is different in the TJA cars

Yes but that is a Tiguan in the photos with the colour change.

Has anyone tried to lengthen the 10 second timeout that alerts you to put your hands back on the steering wheel for the ACC functionality. I saw in an Audi forum that there is an adaptation for this which extends the time to around 30 seconds

On the Audi it is this:
                  Adaptation
Dir. Stab. Assist Driver Inact Deact Threshold
                  Old Value: Medium
                  New Value: Late

Not sure if there is anything similar on the Tiguan

                    Look like this

Just tried this on mine and it works. Next step is to try and match the gold colour for the alternative colour display for for AID for the Infotainment unit colour matches!

Did you also get the menu on discover to select colours?

                          • So this just changes the colour of the central display? Does it affect the colour of the ambient lighting in the doors etc?

Tiguan does not have RGB diode. Only white color

                              • So slight twist of events. Went to try and code in the gold colour so I could have the Infotainment unit match the AID and when I set the AID Display Depiction to Version 3 it was no longer gold. It seems with setting the custom colour options it now inherits whatever you have it set to:

Here are a few other examples of the matching colours:

Not the best photos, sorry, as it was dark.

One thing to note I have discovered with the custom colours, all 10 have to best set. If any of them have the RGB value set to 0, 0, 0 then it doesn't work.
