Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Just wondering how long it usually takes to get stuff changed on the OBDeleven app.

I've finally gotten around to getting the tablet connected etc.
Detected 1 fault, it is taking in excess of 30 minutes to clear - still going so far but I'm going to pull the plug very soon.
I have full Wifi bars on my tablet, internet at my place is more than adequate.

Was hoping it would be a couple minutes each. At this rate it will take me forever to do all the tweaks I want.

It should be pretty much straight away. If it has taken that long then I would say the app has hung. I would just close out of the app fully then open and reconnect to your car and try it again.

It is under Dash Board (17) - Adaptation - Tube_version (all the way at the bottom on the list)
          Variant_2 is the default
          Variant_3 is the GTI
          Variant_4 is the R

Edited to correct the module number.
can I ask was that from my thread?

also did a bit more playing just now as after I installed my RVC my car play stopped working, so popped out the mmi, all connections ok, went into obd11 and looked at infotainment, long coding, byte 19, as changed bit 4 to ticked, enabled all the bits one by one and found that bit 6 is power to the USB and bit 7 is data lines (maybe what it's called?) to USB, as when I clicked bit 6 the phone stopped charging and when I clicked bit 7 the car play detected phone and asked if I wanted to connect

dunno if that's any use to anyone

also looked in rear view camera for 3D but it wasn't there

well, if you go to long coding in the info module at the top right you should see a little black/white box with 0 &1 in it, press that, then you should be presented with a long number like this 027310010000000051110102008808001F0900E6012004009F Going across the screen, every 2 numbers are a byte, so if you press the green right arrow it should go across 2 digits at a time, (under the long number to the left you should see what byte your on) move across to 23, then there should be a list of bits going down the screen with box's next to them, if any of the boxes are filled that means that bit is selected, if you want 00 then deselect any boxes that are filled and press and hold the green tick, then the 2 digits in the long coding at the top should change to 00 (take a note of your old number just in case it goes wrong), then you are done

            • Any idea how to change the ESC button function? At the moment it is ESC On / ASR off / ESC Sport.

I want to try and change it to ESC On / ESC Sport / ESC Off.

                      Hi Don,
I've read that on other forums too but would that still apply to the new Tiguan?

This is what I have at the moment:

hmm........ perhaps not! On the mk 7, the default value of Byte 29 for the ABS module is hex09 which in binary is 0000 1001. This means that Bit0 and Bit3 is set in the lower nibble.

On your car, Byte 29 has the value hexAA which in binary is 1010 1010. This means that Bit1 and Bit3 is set in the lower nibble.

For my money, the Bit bit structure looks too different to risk experimenting - especially since we are dealing with a module that is involved in the car's safety. Better to wait until someone figures this out - I think

                        Don

PS I will remove my suggestion - lest it prompt an unsuspecting colleague

Thanks for the tutorial Jap & DV52, I'll give it a go later. I've only had my obd11 for a couple of days, and I'm still on a steep learning curve.
