Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Here is a video I managed to record of the Active Info Diplay colour change, I would actually call the colour Gold now rather than Orange after seeing it a bit. One this I hadn't noticed when I first changed it was that it also changes the colour of the startup sequence:

Awesome, thanks for the photos and the video. I don't really understand why they can't make this type of thing available via the standard menu system. It would be great to have some other colours/themes to choose from.

I also wish you could make the dials as small as they go in the Audi VC. I know you can make them a little bit smaller, but in the Audi you can make them much smaller again, leaving more room for the maps.

Wonder if there is a tweak to make it smaller like the Audi?

I will do some more playing later and see what else can be done with it. There were 4 different depiction settings and I could only see differences between 3 of them but I didn't try all the different display screens on them so will try testing more.

There are lots of other settings under the Dashboard module that I haven't looked at yet so who knows what else can get changed yet.

Full BCM database - Download if you want!

Lots of folk here getting interested in VCDS tweaks for their new Tiggy. - well if you want a complete list of Adaptation channels and their settings for the BCM (the module @ address hex09) download the MS Excel spread-sheet HERE (yes, the control module really does have 1,835 x adaptation channels!)

The information comes from an Aussie 2017 Tiguan Highline Rline (thanks VWYW)

The layout is self explanatory, but here's a pictorial explanation:

The picture shows my spread-sheet on the top and the admap for the BCM when opened in a text editor at the bottom.

How might you use the information? Well...... as I have been saying on another thread, there is a wealth of (almost) suitable tweaks for the new Tiggy from other MQB platform vehicles. However in some cases the Tiguan control modules have a superficial change to the name of some adaptation channels. These slight change in names can make finding an adaption channel quite difficult when you are attempting to implement the tweak.

So, before you go to the car - open MS Excel and load my spread sheet. Then use the search function to search for a portion of the adaptation channel name from the other MQB car instruction (I suggest that you use the rear part of the adaptation channel name - the "Child" part). If (when) you find the Child name on my spreadsheet, the cell to the left-side will tell you the Tiggy's name for the Parent channel. Use this adaptation channel identifier when you do the tweak

            Easy-Peazy-Lemon-Squeasy!!

            Don

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

                Champ, thanks Don and VWYW.

Also NZ-GolfR, the colour change looks pretty nice. Makes the AID look like the new Arteon's.

Good going mate, if you can take screenshots step by step for any working tweaks I'll add it to my OP under an OBD11 section.

                  Cheers!

theitchy: I've now amassed quite an arsenal of different diagnostic tools - some better than others, but my go-to device still is my trusty HEX-NET. Runs "like a cut cat" compared to all other devices that I have tried and the service/updates from Ross-Tech are the best!!

Alas though - I'm about 880 kms South West of Sydney, but I'm sure that you will find a forum colleague closer to home.

theitchy: No- I'm confusing you! Ross-Tech themselves don't offer a coding service, but they do offer an excellent support service for registered users of their products (great email support and the contributors on their forum have awesome expertise!). They are also excellent in their software updates - VCDS cables aren't always able to keep-up with every new car that VW/AUDI/SKODA etc release, but they aren't too bad (IMO).

But (there is always a "but"), RT cables aren't inexpensive! So, it's cost/value proposition for prospective buyers and many choose OBDeleven for this reason (OBD11 is still a reasonable cable).

Your choice, but don't buy a fake cable - you are only supporting the theft of RT's intellectual property

I've used RT for years and yes they're great, but now with the 2016+ MQB platform I need to upgrade my cable. They offer a trade in but to get the Pro version, which is the equivalent of what I currently have, I'm looking at $399 USD.

As an enthusiast that has helped many people over the years (above the 10 VIN max of the "cheaper" $249 cable) I just can't see the justification in this, so I've ordered the OBDEleven Pro instead.

                            Will see how I go.

                            Shane.

Shane: good choice - you won't be disappointed with an OBD11 dongle (make sure that your internet connection in the workshop/garage is good)!!

The software currently has an incompatibility problem with some MY17 MQB control modules (i.e. the new ABS module with the 47 byte-count), but I suspect that the designers back at OBD11 HQ will have this matter fixed shorty!

                                Hi Don and Shane

With the RT product if you run out of VIN spots does it just ask you to choose which one to forget or are you cactus?

Can you save a complete VIN profile xand then reload it back when you want to work on that car?
