I followed the instructions to the end and ran basic settings. On starting the car and turning on the high beam I would still get a DLA fault which I couldn’t clear.
At the end of page 2 of the coding instructions there is some additional coding for if you continue to get a fault. I entered all of this coding and it cleared the DLA fault but created a new one with turning lights which I also could not clear.
For my car, activating Byte 11, Bit 2 was causing this issue. Once I deactivated this I could clear the faults and the system worked.
Are you aware that to have DLA requires a different headlight assembly to what has been fitted to Tiguans imported from Europe? Has the headlight assembly been changed to the DLA capable unit?

I had also read that on a different forum. But tried it anyway when the coding was posted and it works. So maybe someone has their facts wrong.
Congrats on getting this to work! Does your headlights 'dance' on start up - i.e. showing the shutter calibrating side to side?
Cheers. It does dance but in the same pattern it did previously (not with shutters).
I’ll try and get a video of the system working later tonight..... just to put any doubt that it doesn’t work to rest.

There are three headlight assemblies for the Tiguan, Halogen, a basic LED headlight capable of HBA only and the top unit capable of DLA. There was a thread just recently where I posted the link to the PDF which documents this. Before becoming aware of the two different LED assemblies we tried to change my car via VCDS and it kept showing an error because my Tiguan only has the basic LED as all the Oz cars did but maybe that has changed????

I would assume we get the same stock in NZ as you guys get but reading on here I have noted that we get some features that you didn’t get across the ditch (TJA etc). The R-line spec over here came with pretty much all options other than sunroof as standard.
The lights on mine are the same as those shown in post 613 above which state they have DLA capability.

That would be sweet if you could post a video of it. Will be one of the few (if not first) for a coded DLA in action!

They do and I don't know if things have changed but Oz never got them unless things have changed recently. The lights you have must have a much brighter high beam as well. I wonder if I can find a wrecked R Line in NZ...Do you know of any specific VW wreckers over there?
I have a allspace, which generally seem to be specced the same, or even a smidge better than ‘normal’ tiguans and the Comfortline I drove didn’t have dla(was a 2018 though)
Seems weird how you’ve described it.
If you do have the mid lights though, it seems you can enable the feature(if you have DAP hardware) as the missing pieces are the shutter headlights and the camera that is apparently different.
I’m certain bud. I took a photo of the spec sheet. Once I figure out how to post a pic lol I will happily share.
I checked the technical specs of the Wolfie vs Allspace.
Wolfie does NOT have the DLA as even an optional line item. Its not mentioned in the spec sheet at all.
Allspace - Optional for Comfortline, Standard for Highline
It seems so bizarre to me, that even the highest end Tiguan would not have DLA as an standard let alone option to add.
Looks like for the Tiguan Highline/R-line/Wolfies owners - it will have to be via coding (if its even physically possible)...Would love to know if this is a path owners can take.
I agree. It’s ridiculous to have a top spec vehicle in your line but not have a feature that models further down the range do. After a few phone calls with a friend who is a dealer we got a tech that knew what we were talking about. He said to “put your lights on high beam and if an actuation light didn’t come up on the virtual dash it wasn’t installed or enabled”. My car is a Sept 18 build MY19 Wolfsburg.
Even that is incorrect advice. Sigh, dealers. It must be HQ giving them dud advice/training.
The only tell-tale is the ‘a’ inside the high beam icon. Even that can mean normal high beam assist(on/off auto mode) rather than dynamic assist.
Source- have allspace highline with factory fitted/enabled DLA.
Edit- just downloaded the Australian Tiguan, Wolfy Tiguan and allspace brochures.
Only allspace mentions dynamic light assist. Standard for highline and part of an option pack for Comfortline. It’s the 2nd line under ‘lighting’ heading on page 2 of the full specs.
This line is missing from both the SWB Tiguan brochures.

Thanks Simon, I think that’s what the tech actually said on the phone regarding the icon, it appears inside the high beam blue but obviously got lost in the translation. As you say, even that info is incorrect.
