Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Caltex 98 is rubbish compared to other 98 fuels.

    My launch is set to 4000rpm and it wants to spin the 4 wheels all the way through 1st, I feel sorry for the transfer case and transmission everytime I do it...

    Want to see low high 3's 0-100 once you dial in the tune..

      This is a good test case for you mate, in terms of going TTE475 and tuning with Gordie......

      Fingers crossed the hybrid I38 breaks the 4s mark.....

        Yes agree Caltex Vortex 98 is not to the same spec as others like BP Ultimate. However it is free with work fuel card so I’ll take the performance hit rather than pay for my own petrol.

        The tuner has actually dialled out first and second gear so that there’s less risk of causing damage.

        I still think there’s likely traction issues with the stock tyres. It did squirm a bit rather than bite.

        I’ll be interested to see what we get on the dyno as well as a “proper” 98 tune with 26-27psi boost.

          Yeah I was hoping to get in the 3’s but Gordie is talking water/meth but I’m not that keen on going that route. Just boost and send it [emoji85][emoji85][emoji85]

            Agree, boost and send it...hopefully keep the transfer box intact....I haven’t heard of one being destroyed....yet...

              Ah yes high 3’s but yes reduced torque for 1-2 to keep everything intact.

              Will wait and see post running on the dyno.

                  I should be able to do that sometime even when not on the dyno. I know the Wagner intercoolers are pretty good so I'm really not worried about my intake temps.

                          Boost tap is in. Getting run up on the dyno tomorrow and getting a few more psi boost dialled in.

                                The tuner will use that to get an accurate boost reading while tuning the engine. But otherwise, it can be used to run a boost gauge on a day to day basis.
