Well I joined up when I casually bough a 2019 Polo for my daughter and was then looking at a new Highline with R-Line and Sound/Vision but I decided to stay true to myself and have just secured a brand new fully optioned Tornado Red GTI.

It's in Melbourne so I will fly in to pick it up and drive it home when we know more, but it should be soon.

Also, I've seen different cars on the roads, the newer R's have dynamic rear blinkers. Can the GTI get that too?

I would like to have that, along with the ones in the mirror that you can buy.

I’ve looked into this a couple of months ago, you can buy reputable aftermarket dynamic tail lights for $600 from Supernova, or genuine ones for $775 from VW Central. That is excluding installation and also requires coding using OBD11 or VCDS to get the dynamic indicators to work properly.

The mirror indicators I’m not sure about, they are relatively inexpensive as an aftermarket item I think

Thanks for the info. I have purchased some mirror indicators, fairly cheap and easy to install, no coding.

I've seen a video of an overseas GTI with dynamic indicators, I was thinking that at least over there it was standard. I guess the very latest R's do get them here which is nice.

If I do it I'll probably go for genuine, it's not much more. The coding will be interesting, I have an OBD11 on the way.

How is the alignment on brand new cars, trustworthy?

I don't trust dealerships to do alignments, do they come aligned ok from the factory?

Thought I'd share some information and pictures of my 2016 (MY17) VW Golf GTI 40 Years.
Bought this on 18th December 2019 from Glenn Reid (Product Manager VGA). It was his personal car but decided to sell to fund some house renovations.
It is a 6 Speed Manual and had 5,950klms on it in 3 years of ownership and had just had it's 45,000 3 year Service & as VGA had not "Retailed" it the warranty was valid up to 16th February 2020.
It has the Panoramic Sunroof and VGA wanted to test the DAB+ radio within Australia so Glenn paid for this to be installed. He also added Dynablink Smoke Coloured Cascading blinkers to the external mirrors + a HG Motorsport HF Series3 Carbon Fibre Cold Air Intake with Pipercross Cotton Filter + Racingline R600 Turbo Muffler Delete + Racingline R600 High Flow Turbo Inlet + GFB DVX Blow Off Valve with Volume Adjuster. Also supplied was a 3 Piece Lower Front Diffuser (as these are prone to damage because of the lower stance on the road. We can't forget the Lakin Custom Number Plate Mounting Brackets for Euro Style Plates.
Thoroughly enjoy it after owning Air Cooled VW's over the past 50 years.

How the heck did he do the DAB? Not that I use the radio much, too many options already to play music, but would be good to know how to do it.
