How the heck did he do the DAB? Not that I use the radio much, too many options already to play music, but would be good to know how to do it.

Was surprised also as to the mods - my preference would have been for a Racingline R600 Cold Air Intake over the HG Motorsport ..... am contemplating actually do the switch and selling the HG one. Mods pull a bit more performance & with the BoV having adjustable volume (you can see the lever in the 5th pic - it's a small silver tab/lever about middle of the pic) which I've set to quiet but have opened it up a couple of times.

As for the DAB because of his position and with support from higher up they (VGA) got Head Office to do the special build so they could get an appraisal live and decide if it was something to include on future vehicles. Test was inconclusive but I don't mind it with option of different stations .... listen to the radio a fair bit and also have all the CD's ripped to USB which come across great.

After the 900klm trip home he's been a cruiser when the weather is fine and about 9,000 klm on him now. Still to do some drives on the mountain B roads but that's a time thing.

I guess that proves it's possible in our spec cars, though I'm not sure if it's a completely new system or a software flash.

I just know they get called out on it in many car reviews.

Did enquire if any software flash had been undertaken but answer NO.
Had service under warranty @ VW Dealer Service so expect software check as per service schedule was done.
I got it Serviced in Nov'20 as scheduled for 60,000klm/4 year (had 8,852klm on the clock) and all seems fine with it.

Hi Ale, I've been looking at the infotainment units and I'm wondering if they installed a MIB unit from overseas into your car as they do come with DAB overseas. Not sure if they will work in our cars if we bought one, but surely VW can get it going if anyone can.

Hi genebaby, the MIB Unit was factory installed - in 2016 it was NOT an available option but as the previous/original owner is the Product Manager @ VGA they got it approved as an option on the build of this car only ..... this is the only DAB+ unit in a VW in Australia thus this 40 Years is a one of a kind .
Why it was approved was because VGA wanted to test the DAB in Australia with looking at including it in builds or as an option - not sure how much testing was actually done but it was inconclusive and so DAB didn't get the go ahead.

Yeah, I've been looking online and realised that you can get overseas units and have them programmed, but with all the music options I have now I would still use music through Android Auto and I can stream radio stations through it, so maybe that's why they decided against it.

I'm still old skool and listen to the radio so the DAB gives another option which is pretty good in the GTI ..... I've also ripped all our CD's to a USB stick and have it plugged in as well (also a stick with them in the T-ROC 140TSI Sport).

Looks great. What springs did you go with?

I put in Eibach springs, which I was happy to discover came as a linear. set The pic was on day one, next week or so I will get the alignment rechecked and just drive from there.

Thanks, I do resemble that theory.

On the weekend I did the fender screw mod, seemed to only need it on the drivers side, and looks to have resolved the slight scrubbing I got a little bit.

New steering wheel. It arrived yesterday and installed this morning, I was pretty well prepped for what to do while I was waiting.

New steering wheel looks great. Did you get that from Eurozone in America? Looks very similar to mine.

The standard Mk7 steering wheel was definitely a disappointment compared to the Mk6 and Mk5.
