Drive it gently until the oil is warmed up, then vary the revs and throttle openings until at least 500km (no red-lining initially). As little idling as practical (and definitely not sitting there idling to warm up the engine).

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi all
Looking forward to buying a mk7.5 GTI (hopefully white!) in the coming months.
Would you rather a MY19 with no options or the MY17/18 with the luxury pack?
The electric seats would be really handy as my wife and I will be sharing the one car, and I like the look of the sunroof from the outside. On the other hand, the standard equipment of the MY19 looks great but the budget probably can’t stretch to add the luxury pack - I’m thinking $40-41K or so.
Also can anyone speak to the practicalities of the Golf with a baby? The wife needs some convincing that we don’t need something larger like a Tiguan...
Thanks in advance

More space in the tiguan with baby seats fitted IIRC.
If you need to fit a passenger in the back middle with 2 baby seats (when the time comes), the Tiguan is a better.
I have the R estate (not a hatch) and the boot is bigger (deeper) than the Tiguan. I would't take a Tiguan over our Golf R.RS

Hi All,
Haggling on a GTI now, 2 options are
- ex VW executive driven MY18 GTI fully loaded
- a new MY19.5 or MY20 GTI fully loaded
Really keen on the MY19 onwards models due to all the extra kit, 7sp DSG, 180kw/370nm, upgraded brakes, new diff. But also have a budget to stick to.
What sort of drive away deals have people been able to get on a new GTI recently?MY17 Tiguan 162 Highline | DAP | Rline | Pano Sunroof | Pure White
Stage 2.5 - APR DP, APR Turbo inlet, Muffler delete, IS38 Turbo, APR tune
MY18 Tiguan 162 Highline AllSpace | Sound & Vision | Sunroof | Blue Silk

Hi everyone, going in to the dealer tomorrow to negotiate prices on 2 of their demos.
Which optional pack would you go for if you can only choose one?
Luxury package (sunroof, leather seats)
or
Sound and vision (rims, dyna audio and larger screen)
Can’t decide between the 2! Love the tartan seats but love the sunroof too!MY18 Volvo XC60 Inscription | Pine Grey | Lifestyle Pack
MY14 Golf VII 103 TSI Highline | DSG | Limestone Grey | Bi-Xennon | Sunroof | Driver Assist 2 | Leather | sold

Sound and vision , when i checked out the mk7 sunroof over the mk6 which i had ,i said no way that screen shade still lets in lots of sun , it was a 26 c day and it was hot , dont miss it .
Only time i used it was in winter or at night any way , too burning in summer to have it open .GTI clubsport/edition 40 manual white 2016
Mercedes Benz A200 AMG pack red 2016

Personally I prefer the look of the sunroof from the outside, and I wanted the electric seats which is why I went with the lux pack.
Maybe it depends on how important the Dynaudio is to you. If you can test both options out at the same dealer you should get a good idea.
When I was looking a couple of months ago for a demo there seemed to be plenty around that had both option packs for not much more cash, maybe something to consider?

Electric drivers seat is fantastic too. And the leather seats are stunning. Plus, without sound/vision pack, you get to keep more buttons and the all-important volume knob.
