Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I think that is a pretty safe assumption.

Im pretty satisfied with he current product but would pay a bit more for all the digital stuff.... will go ahead and then upgrade to an Mk8 R when my lease is over

    Thanks for the help.

Haha. That's what I'm thinking. My Mk7 R comes off lease at the end of 2018.

      • Hey guys,

I've been looking at getting a GTI Performance (around June/July) but it appears that they have removed the option for the Driver Assistance package from their website, anyone have any ideas? Also, anyone have a rough idea when Volkswagen might release the MY17? Might be worth the wait.

The model year change is usually around build week 22 - so cars built on or after the last week of May 2016.

            • Hi Guys,

My partner got her Golf TSI 110 with R-line and she loves it... bit of a lil rev head ! I've been driving it when I pop to Melbourne now and again and it really is a nice car..... Which brings me to my next point. I would like to step away from my Mercedes A200 and... switch to a GTI performance.. pref with leather seats but I can live with out and probably get the tartan replaced privately.

I've been asking a few dealerships for a valuation but they are saying low 30k's for a trade in.. a lil devo was hoping for at least..35- 37K. I've got 12700Km's on the meter and it's a Nov 14 build 2015 Compliance purchased on 24th April 2015. Has AMG pack, Vision pack (led/Bixenon lights/Sunroof) and Becker Map Pilot. I'm looking for a my15/16 GTI performance with Carplay and don't mind it as used or a demo - I saw two at VW 5 dock with 5000km's each going for 45000k drive away.. trying to haggle a bit down to 8000k change over. What do you guys think? I love the interior of the A class but.. I drive a lot for work, I do Freight Forwarding sales around NSW and VIC and.. I kinda want something a bit faster that I can mod and get parts for... Can't really mod the A class unless you're talking about a Chip tune ($900), (KN airfilter $100) Brakes (3000k).. with no real "investment" return as it does not have a slip diff.. and Carplay/Car entertainment system and.. not really meant for mods

What are all your opinions... Also yes.. I'm an idiot for getting an A200

              • Given Redbook lists either a 2014 Nov build or 2015 build A200 coming in at $30k you're doing well to push a trade into the low 30s. The options and mileage don't count for too much when it comes to wholesale trade - best to find out what that is and then suss out how much more a private sale might net as ultimately all the dealers will offer the same 'real' trade price.

Certainly a lot of well priced mod options on a GTI PP - although the first requirement for me would be to swap those awful wheels out.

I personally would rather take a chance on a used example over a demo though. While you've got a good chance the used example has been taken care of, there is no chance the demo will have.

Ok this is what they offered... Demo my April 16 GTI performance 1500km @$47,000 and $38500 for my A200. 2.8% comparison rate on the $8500 change over..... What do you think Dutch ?

I still wouldn't go a demo myself, but that's a fairly sharp price on the demo and $8-10k over on trade so your call.

I'm with Dutch on this one. I had one sales rep who took me out to go for a test drive for all VW performance vehicles, all 3 of them we launched multiple times just to show off how good the feature is.

The Scirocco R had 7Km on it too.

                              • Hi all.

At the recent happy laps I decided I really liked the darker tail lights on the white R's that were there. I can buy the R style tail lights, but have been put off by the $700USD price (+ shipping) for what is exactly the same housing, but in a darker tint. So I've done some research and a mob called Lamin-x make pre-cut tinting sheets that should give me the exact look I'm after. Note that I am very keen to avoid the ricer look. I'm going to ask Lamin-x if knife tape can be used to cut their sheeting so that the indicator section can be removed (The thin clear strip is un-tinted on both the GTI and R LED tails). It'll be fiddly, but will give a look as close as physically possible to the Golf R lights as possible without replacement.

Anyone used this stuff before? Thoughts on what I'd like to do?

                                Cheers,

                                - Matt
