Not sure I could cope with the look, but 195kW and hopefully the standard Pretorias are a winner.
Nice. Fair bump in power there. Interested to feel the Overboost effects.

Why not? It has the clever diff.

        • Yeah never really understood the whole "too much power in a FWD car" thing. You just drive it differently. You don't need to plant it every time.

Granted it makes the car more difficult to drive and depending on your preferences this could make the car less enjoyable. So I do actually get where people may be coming from.

Wow, I just did an about-face in 2 sentences haha.

Personally, I wouldn't complain about the power bump. I'm just not a fan of the looks of the GTI40 at all. Fugly; inside and out.

          • I agree with this.

Not sure what they were thinking, it's not a coherent package - they'd have been better off with a few exterior tweaks and perhaps pick up the lower R ride height. It's only the silver finished Pretorias that save the exterior.. if Oz somehow makes the right call and brings them out I will happily by a second hand set off someone upgrading wheels and stash for my next Dub no problems.

            • has anyone purchased an MY16 GTI Performance recently?
Curious to know how much people have paid as I'm in the market for one.

              Thanks.

              • Hi Guys,

I'm in the market for a Mk7 GTI Performance and I've been told by a dealer that apparently it is being discontinued? Has anyone else heard about this? Seems odd to me...

                Cheers!

                • I paid ~$50k with DAP and 2 years extra factory warranty in October 2015.

It is correct regarding the discontinuity to make way for the GTI Clubsport/40 years model due for release around mid year, although no confirmed date as yet. There are still be a few PP's around and I assume there will some good deals to move them, closer to the known date of the arrival of the CS/40.

                  • The GTI P wasn't a discrete model in the UK. It was a tick on the options list for the GTI, so it makes sense they discontinue it here or they will have 3 different GTIs for sale!

But that doesn't make sense as the 40 Years model is going to be a limited edition. They should be able to sell them reasonably quickly unless we are getting a big allocation.

                      • As Mattlock suggested it might be to just bring it into line with ROW. The LSD, brakes and power 'boost' is a 995 pound tick which makes more sense than a discrete model line - albeit I get why they did it here given our market size.

(and means one can avoid shelling out extra on the Santiagos but still get the other goodies)

                        • Yeah, if it had been available to add to the manual GTI, I might have gone that way over the R.

                              • Nothing overly exciting

Nothing overly exciting, but I received my sunshade from West Sun Shades today. Half price for a manufacturing defect that I couldn't find without the help of a co-worker, and even then I'm not even sure it's the defect haha.

Very happy with it. Fits like a glove, is well made, and looks a tonne nicer than the "one size fits all" crap you buy from the auto stores. Highly recommended.

For some reason I cannot upload photos at the moment but can when I am home if anyone cares enough.

                                - Matt
