I've just hard wired a rear dashcam by connecting the 12V to 5V adaptor/USB to the 12V (cigarette plug) in the boot (behind the trim). It's working fine so I assume I have not short-circuited anything. Any idea how I can fix this? Where is the Antenna 2? I've tried clearing it and it immediately recurs.

    Thanks!
hmmm.......... not sure that I understand the DTC message. According to my data, aerial amplifier 2 is located in bottom right of the rear window. But, the amplifier is only installed on vehicles with a TV (and therefore with an active MOST ring). Your car can't possibly have this equipment - or, does it?

Anyhow, I'm tempted to read the DTC as a connector problem for antenna 2 (FM reception - I assume), rather than relating to the workings of the amplifier. 0 dB reception for this aerial doesn't seem like a good number (neither does 0mA).

Given that the error message refers to "open circuit" (so yes, I agree with your statement that you "have not short circuited anything"), it suggests that perhaps a wire connection was displaced when the dash-cam cable was being routed to the rear ciggy plug (behind the trim). Just a guess of course - but it might be prudent to check the dashcam power cable route for any near-by connectors (I think)!

Is anyone able to reply? Is there any way to have just the dot LED running?
I'm keen to know this as well. Would be sweet if the DRLS and parking Leds could be permanently on would be awesome.

Thanks for your help. I have a Wolfie Wagon but as you expected no TV. By "bottom right of the rear window" I presume you mean the bottom of the fixed glass on the right side of the boot? That's the area I was working on to get the cigarette plug installed so may be I have dislodged something. I'll have a look and see if I can find something.

        Thanks!

This behavior is established (I believe) by setting to active the adaptation channel in the BCM with the title Driving light and parking light-Standlicht aus bei LDS=ABL und S-Kontakt aus.

During daylight hours, the main beam doesn't illuminate (of course) and whilst the parking light lamp is switched-on, it functions as a DRL.

Don: I tried setting Driving light and parking light-Standlicht aus to "not active" but the car still kept the parking lights on until key removed after ignition is turned off. I'm looking for a way to disable this so parking lights will just turn off with ignition only. Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot!

Drive: just as complete guess, why not try disabling Scandinavian DRLs temporarily and see if this has any effect on the DRL/parking light behavior? Perhaps play with the above adaptation channel again without Scandinavian DRLs.

Scandinavian DRLs channel is Daytime running lights-Tagfahrlicht-Dauerfahrlicht aktiviert zusartzlich Standlicht >active

Don't think so mate. I'm fairly certain they are the same light bulb for each square and L.

                • I wonder if you can activate Mirror Link icon in the Discovery Media via VCDS so you can buy the activation code that in the workshop told me that if there is no icon you can not activate it all.

                  Thank you.

                      • "Basic" Golf VII (2017) 92TSI Hardware Limitations for VCDS / OBD11 Tweaks

                        Hi all,

does anyone know which features available on comfortline or highline golf models that can be enabled using VCDS or OBD11 tweaks on the base model 2017 mark VII and which can't due to hardware limitations?

Are there sensors installed that just require software tweaks to enable, thinking along the lines of (and some of these will shock me if they are installed) rain sensing, remember air re-circulation setting, auto headlight sensors, voice commands, dipping the mirror when reversing, coming home lighting, speed limit recognition....

If there are any other common software tweaks that can be performed on the base model also would welcome those suggestions too.

                        • Hey all,
Can this button on the steering wheel be re-coded/re-assigned to something more useful? As Voice control is a waste of space and time.
I found a code to make it mute (DV52 top bloke!!!), but was hoping for something more useful. Esc/tc/start stop on off, etc

I had a look in steering and informat coding (obdeleven) but nothing jumped out at me.

Minesapint: Hi - all very good questions, thank you for asking them!

It's difficult to be specific given the broad nature of the question, but the short answer is: it depends entirely on the specific equipment level of the control modules in your car and the associated peripherals!

But, it also depends on the version number of the software/hardware in these control modules because significant changes appear to have occurred in 2016/2017 period of mk7 models. These changes were profound and they started by re configuring the structure of the database for adaptation channels in the BCM (which has over 50% of the total channel count for the entire vehicle). The BCM (Body Control Module) is the central module on the Convenience CAN bus and it's identified by VCDS as "Cent. Elect." and by OBD11 as "Central electric" - and it lives @ address hex09.

In later incarnations of the BCM, it appears that a further, very significant change was made to 2017 models: the complete absence of any code-string on the module and the transfer of these functions to adaptation channels (which of course had the consequential result of increasing the BCM channel count even more - these later BCMs now have a channel count of 1,800-ish).

So, what does all this mean - I hear you asking? Well....... it means that the only way to get an accurate answer to your question is to post up a copy of the auto-scan for your 92TSI - so we can see what equipment is installed.

And - before you make any changes, it might be prudent to make a complete database of the settings in your car - in their "virgin" state. If you aren't aware of how to do this - perhaps download THIS (it's a bit old now, but hopefully it's still relevant)

                            Don

Minesapint: Someone thieved your OBD11 dongle? Outrageous! How is the robber going to use it without the activation code? Have you advised ODB11 Admin - so they can track anyone trying to re-register the dongle?

Anyhow, given that you aren't using VCDS, my paper about making a database is not relevant.
Instead you need to use OBD11's "back-up" function for each module - see below:
