  • I ask if it is possible to activate via the VCDS the engine oil level function visible from the central console or from the composite media display.

    • Hi Don- DV52

I recently added a VW Helix amp / subwoofer to a non fender / non DynaAudio Golf MK7.

While the sound has now become somewhat better, there is not a lot of flexibility to made/customised the sound.

Would you have tweak to Adding of equaliser function to the MIB2.?

      • No but you can change sound level outputs.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean the small screw at the DSP or via the VCDS.

The tweak emulates the DRL dynamic on a BMW 335i (apparently) which as Murf explains "when the car was locked or unlocked the angel eye DRL's would light up for 20 secs or so". Murf's request was made in the OBD11 thread, so my instructions are based on this diagnostic cable. Nevertheless, the instructions are easily translated into VCDS speak.

OBD11 Instructions: Front DRLs flash with lock/unlock

If the car has LED "angel-eyes" headlight fittings:
              1. Select Central electrics module @ address hex09
              2. Select security access
              3. Enter the magic number 31347
              4. Select adaptations
              5. For a late-model module search for Außenlicht_Blinker. If you have an early-model module, search for Dyn. turn signal modes
              6. Select Warnblinken_Zuendung_EIN change to active
              7. Select Warnblinken_Zuendung_AUS change to active
              8. Search for Leuchte2SL VLB10 (this is the left-side angel-eye)
              9. Select Lichtfunktion G 2. ONLY IF THE VALUE IS not active, change to Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken
              10. Select Dimmwert GH 2, change value to 100 (default 0)
              11. Search for Leuchte3SL VRB21 (this is the right-side angel-eye)
              12. Select Lichtfunktion G 3. ONLY IF THE VALUE IS not active, change to Aktive Blinkfunktion hat ein auf 1 gesetztes zugeordnetes Bit in pa_dynamisch_blinken
              13. Select Dimmwert GH 3, change value to 100 (default 0)

If the car has incandescent headlight fittings:
              1. Swap reference to Leuchte2SL VLB10 to Leuchte4TFL LB4 (note: Lichtfunktion G 2 becomes Lichtfunktion G 4 and Dimmwert GH 2 becomes Dimmwert GH 4)
              2. Swap reference to Leuchte3SL VRB21 to Leuchte5 TFL RB32 (note: Lichtfunktion G 3 becomes Lichtfunktion G 5 and Dimmwert GH 3, becomes Dimmwert GH 5)

              Don

EDIT: In the first version of this tweak, it was necessary to deactivate DRL Wink (because it conflicted with the lock/unlock acknowledgement function). The instructions have subsequently been re-written to allow retention of DRL Wink in those cars that have it activated.
              Hi Don and et,

I have tried to implement this but the angel eyes still does not light up. Would you know if there are additional steps that I may need to look at in order for this to work.Thanks.

samuel: Please post-up a copy of the settings that you have for one of the angel-eye Leuchte-sets (doesn't matter which, but I need the full 19 x channels)

                  • Has anyone spotted a setting to change the resolution of the HVAC temperature control? I think the 0.5 degree stepping is silly and want to change one degree at a time.

Samuel: Yes, the method in the video (affectionately known as an "admap") will be OK, but it will give you about 1,800-ish adaptation channels and their settings. You really should have a complete database of admaps from all the modules in your car saved somewhere as a reference source for when the brown stuff and the fan collide during a tweak (it's a matter of "when", not "if" something goes wrong with a tweak).

But perhaps a simpler way is to just take a screenshot of the Leutche-set values (you probably will need a couple of pictures for the full set)

Hardy: I've had a good look at the adaptation channels and the software switches in the code-string for the Auto HVAC module @ address hex08, but alas there doesn't appear to be anything remotely related to "integer-ising" the temp controller.

Happy to be told otherwise, but my suspicion is that this facility is embedded in firmware, which is a part of the module that is not accessible with VCDS (or OBD11). You could try a VCP cable, but you will need to have a fairly intimate understanding of the firmware code.
