There are some reasonably cheap tracking solutions that should meet Allianz requirements. I noticed they would have removed the theft excess on my GTI with tracking as well.

For SA an R was around $500 with SGIC with all the usual policy requirements/benefits (plus mid 30s, garaged, full NCB) - I quoted one out of interest.

      • Sports Car Comparison: Subaru WRX STI v Audi S3 v Volkswagen Golf R

Quite a comprehensive review and guess who won hands out (apart from the interior department)?

            • Good day gents (and ladies),

New to the forum and first VW purchase having had a long run of Subarus.

I am looking to pick up a manual R with all the options, currently speaking to some dealers about pricing etc, would ~$57.5K on the road be a reasonable price?

              Cheers

My fully optioned DSG was $59k, so $57.5k sounds quite reasonable IMO. Goodluck with the purchase.

                • Depends on what corporate discount you get re price. I'm looking at a stock (as in no option) manual R at the moment for about $50K drive-away ...... but that's with highest corp discount and a bit of negotiated dealer discount.

Holding off on placing the order to see if the R400 becomes a reality as I'm in no particular hurry and want a 2015 build anyway. When ready and actually going for a R (not R400) I'd be pushing hard to get sub $50K.

I'd be willing to add $20K on top of that to get a R400 .....

                          • Thanks fellas. Ooh corporate plus does that mean it's better or I get charged "plus"???😜

I know it's been mentioned here before but I can't get over no electric seats on the R not even just the driver. I'll survive though...

                            • Hey guys, my post has nothing to do with price but more about handling of the car.

I just purchased and installed a H&R rear swaybar on my R. Wow, what difference it makes straight away. Turn in much sharper, car corners flatter.

Installation took all of 40min, no jack required just a pair of low line ramps.

I'd recommend this upgrade to anyone.

Is this a bigger diameter bar, do you know what the std vs this one is in size? I did this mod on my MY00 WRX and it worked a treat also so I would be interested in this.
