i finally receive and pick up my GTI on Wedneday morning.. it's long a wait since Feb 2010, but it's worth the while. now it's time for me to run it in approaching the weekend.. good times are just ahead and i can't wait what the DSG can do once i run it in..

I've just put down my deposit for my first VW... ordered a GTI on June 21. Was told roughly 16wks to delivery initially but rang my dealer yesterday and was told they have been swamped with orders and consequently my car hasn't been allocated a build date as yet Delear said could be another 4 weeks before it gets a date.. obviously pushing delivery back quite some time...

Anyone else order around this time or got any info on ETA's...

All that seems certain is that I have a long wait....

Well if it means anything. I ordered my GTI in Mid March, and it was delivered to Melbourne Docks 4 weeks ago today (whatever that is) and I am still yet to pick my car up.

However there is a pro and a con to this.

Pro = It took WAY less time then I was told to actually get into the country (I was told I would not be picking it up until Late August/October).

Con = It has been in the country for 4 weeks and I have not been told to collect it yet.

Read through the manual and wonder why there are so many features missing for Australian model...

I ordered my MY11 GTI end of May.
ETA was end of September.

Just checked with the car's status and it has been allocated an "approximate build week" of week 33 or close - which is roughly the 1st week of August.

So the ETA is now October.

Dealer and I are hoping that when the exact build week is locked in, the ETA will be earlier (give or take, depending on actual build week).

I should probably just expect ETA in November, so i don't get my hopes up

I have recently found out it is currently on the water and will arrive in Melbourne on July 31. So at this stage, I can expect to take delivery by mid-late August, ie. approximately a 4 month wait from signing the contract.

Well today marks the 4 week and 1 day mark for me waiting since the car was docked in Melbourne. Still Nothing from the dealer.

I was informed of a Mid July pick-up... which is this Thursday. So I will be calling them on Wednesday to ask for a 'please explain'.

Does that sound fair? or am I being abit hard to please here?

So your car was on the Queen Sapphire, correct? My car was on that boat and I've had it since the 1st July so yep, it seems weird that you haven't got yours yet.

No the Toscana.

It docked in Melbourne on: 14/06 and it said it was delivered (whatever that means) on the 17/06

But still on Wednesday it will be exactly 1 month since it had docked in Melbourne... Im abit worried something has gone wrong and the dealer is covering something up.
