  • haha ok i have to get with the lingo.

I wasnt really flattered over them telling me that as every person that seems to buy a new car 'gets them' i dont know what they will be
i will see in 2 weeks i guess, although i might give them a call for the gti embroided ones!!

and stealer was barloworld at mascot.. gave me the best price out of all the syd ones

      • Hi Guys,

I just wanted some feedback I went to a dealer today and got them to price up both a GTI and R, with the following options on road.

        GTI
        DSG
        Xenons
        Adaptive chassis control
        18" Detroits
        Ipod connectivity
        Bluetooth

        R
        DSG
Leather (cause they have one in stock)
        Adaptive Chassis Control
        Ipod connectivity
        Bluetooth
19" Wheels Black (not sure why they are called Taladega maybe??)

Pricing I got for each was 55k onroad for the GTI and 65K on road for the R give or take a few pennies. Now I may be way off the mark but that seems ridiculously expensive?? I mean I know cars lose a fair chunk when you drive them off the showroom floor but you can pick up a golf R for 48k second hand with under 20,000kms on the clock and still under warranty so where does 17k go?? Not to mention the sticker prices for these cars with no options are way cheaper than what I was quoted? I mean if I optioned the Dynaudio and Sat Nav the R would be pushing 70k!!

Anyway any feedback would be appreciated.

            Mate,

GTI & R with those options should not cost more than $50K and $58K respectively IMO.

Clearly he is not giving you any discount and does not want a sale! Presuming both the cars are either my11.5 or my12 - MDI and Bluetooth are standard.

I paid just under $53K for my car (see my signature below).

            Hope that helps.

            Cheers,

you won't get a good price until you decide which vehicle you are after. Once you decide, then you can start negotiating properly. Until then you are window shopping.

Yeah I know what you are saying Brad, but I don't think giving a customer a insane price is going to do you any favours either. I think the guy was a bit of a dunce because he also showed me a GTI MY11 that they wanted to move and I said I really wanted Xenon's and ACC (noticing this car didn't have either) and he said "I will check what options are on this car hold on"........there was no ACC button near the shifter and you can tell Xenons from just looking at the headlights???? Either he was having a really bad day or had no idea what he was doing. Ah well might just test drive the R and hit him up for a "real" price!

Oh yeah he also wrote down Xenon with a "Z" when I was saying what options I was after.......LOL!!!

I have just had a less than pleasant experience with a Brisbane dealer buying a Golf R, so bad that I will not be returning there for service. Most of the advice and positive feedback on this forum is to deal with Rob McGrail at Gold Coast VW.

I have spoken with him and regret not dealing with him. I will be having my servicing done at Gold Coast VW He is also a forum sponsor now.

                      • It just amazes me that some "salesman" and even dealer principals don't get it. Customers are hard to get, harder to keep, but so easy to lose.

That is too true, I went in there with the the thought in my head "if this guy is knowledgeable, pleasant and gives me some decent pricing I will go out of my way to go back to this dealer" and then in the space of 20 mins I was thinking "there is absolutely no way I am buying a car here!!"

I also thought to myself if I ever find myself unemployed at least I have the security of knowing I could always sell VW's cause if they hired this bloke they will hire anyone!!

                                Is it MY11, 11.5 or 12?

17", full tank of fuel & Floor mats are kind of standard accessory. It's not a bad price i guess! You could have haggled a bit better
