    • yeah it seems a bit odd that no one in germany has got a hold of any paperwork yet if that sort of stuff is appearing at dealerships....maybe through Nov we'll see some stuff...i cant wait till they start getting theirs so we can hear the exhaust note on youtube at least

Agreed, the Mk4 and 5 R32s give me a little happy pants everytime I hear it's roar.. Can't wait to here the R.

I've got my heart set on this car so it hope when they say "competetively priced", I hope they don't mean up against the S3 and 135..

Yeah I'm in the same boat as you...spent the last month or so since frankfurt drooling over the pictures and now i couldn't imagine getting any other car haha, I'm just worried if it starts touching on s3, 135 prices like you said I'd be better off getting one of those because I'd be able to haggle a better deal on the road...once i put recaros and sat nav in, based on a $58k price tag i'm looking at close to $75k on road....all taxes, dealer delivery etc included....any more than that and I'd be stretching the budget a bit much...

          • Being that the Recaros cost $5460 after all the taxes etc, would it not be best to just get the regular seats and purchase them aftermarket? How much do they cost aftermarket?

yeah i was thinking about that...but various threads/sites i've seen about after market MKV r32 seats has them coming in at around 4k or more for the pair anyway...without install...if its only about 500-1000 difference to have them factory installed it's probably worth avoiding the hassle..IMO of course...i'm going aftermarket for my bluetooth, MDI etc, and possibly even considering aftermarket for the satnav...but $75k is my maximum limit...i have all my fingers and toes crossed that somehow VWA comes up with $52-$55k for the RRP rather than $58k though somehow i don't see that happening...

oh and boo about the detuned 188kw because of "the heat" what BS..

MDI is best bought as a factory fit option... bluetooth yes buy and fit that after. Sat nav - for integration into the car (especially if you get the VW / Skoda bluetooth) you can't go past the RNS510. Voice control, integrates with MFD, and MDI. The aftermarket units don't come close...

                    • Nice. So options look to be:

                      - 19" Talledega rims instead of the 18", in silver or gloss black
                      - Bucket seats in San Remo Leather/Microfibre
                      - Electric seats in Vienna Leather (I think)
                      - ACC
                      - Cruise control

The last one seems a bit odd not to be standard?

                      • thanks for the advice swallowtail,

yeah i'll probably go Recaros, MDI and Satnav all factory fitted after what you said...

I've been zooming in on the pictures in the brochure and interestingly if you zoom in on the picture of the multifunction steering wheel on page 9 it shows the key in the ignition slot..whereas the photos of the actual car from the Frankfurt Motorshow showed keyless ignition...maybe its an option? or im hoping the photos in the brochure are outdated....as gimmicky as it is, that "ENGINE START/STOP" button really does it for me

                        • The KESSY keyless ignition that is an option in the Passats in Europe isn't available here unfortunately at the moment. I'd have bought it LOL....! If they bring it out on the Golf that would be very cool.

Cruise Control will be standard here in Oz. If it's not I'll eat my shorts...
