How to track the car you have ordered?

Is anyone else having their car shipped from an interstate dealer? How long does it normally take? I was told that there were no cars with the spec I was after available in Perth or coming here any time soon, but there was one arriving Brisbane which could be sent over here. The dealer reckoned it would get here by mid-May, WW tracking site linked from here said my car was delivered to Brisbane on 21st April... Judging from some of the delays people have mentioned here that's beginning to sound a bit optimistic!

My salesman (Jordan at Osborne Park VW) was pretty good at keeping me informed as things progressed. Though the poor guy had to deal with me being grumpy and unimpressed when he failed to secure a car for me as quickly as he thought he'd be able to: signed the deal on the Saturday before last, was told it'd probably take two weeks to get a car, maybe four at the latest. Then got a call on Tuesday saying that the dealers over east weren't particularly keen on swapping cars with Perth and unless I was lucky I'd be in for a 6+ week wait (but was offered a loan car if it blew out beyond that). Then got a call again on Wednesday saying he'd secured a car for me, it would probably take about a month to get here, and gave me the VIN.

So I guess it's just back to waiting now.

I had my VIN for almost two weeks before I was able to track it. It just kept saying "No record found". I would guess that if your car built last week, you should be able to track very shortly, keep checking.

I have to say, the Marine Traffic website that gv-dub put me onto is soooo addictive, I cant stop watching it.

Hey, my VIN has shown up on track and trace website, 6 days after it was loaded onto the Asian Dynasty. So at least it is confirmed and on its way

Mine is on the Oberon, its also of the coast of Portugal, just about to pass Morocco. Our ships are right near each other. The Oberon is scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on 31 May. When is the Asian Dynasty due to arrive?

The Asian Dynasty is due on the 30th May.....so I'm guessing it will be mid June before we get our cars, unless they get a good tail wind and arrive early

It looks like they are traveling at about 17knts (30km/h), I say; step it up captain!

Woo Hoo my GTI has finally been discharged from the Mignon at 12:04 today.

Now the wait really begins, it was discharged in Sydney then needs to be transported by road to Melbourne and dealer delivery works done.

The ships go "quiet" for long periods and then suddenly pop up. Mine was off the shore of Durban for weeks and then suddenly popped into Mlebourne, today. I was getting worried that the pirates had got it.

Now for the wait for pre-delivery. The next two weeks are going to be longer than the previous five months.

hey iBoost, got my GTi on the Tombarra, im pretty sure marine traffic website only works when the ships are in range of the traffic radars etc. so we will only see it once it approaches the coast of NZ on the 3rd or so
