Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Darren,
I love the dsg too, but I owned a Honda S2000 for about 5 years and I just love the feel of the manual transmission. I will let you know how the car is. I will only have the chance to drive it for a few days as I am buying it this for my daughter

Years ago, Fraud offered a thing on their website where they'd e-mail you a couple photos of your car being made (thats what they called it anyway). I reckon they just sent the same photos to everyone hehe.

              • Got this from my dealer this morning...

"...Your car left Bremerhaven , 8/10/10 on the Morning Camilla, passage
C0029. It is expected to dock in Sydney 20/11/10. We normally deliver
                about 10 days after docking."

Looks like a few of us with cars on Camilla!

I've seen the same ship name come up a few times over the past year, but there is a big rotation. It's more than just VW using them. BMW, Peugot, and presumably the other German/French brands (maybe even UK?) are also using them. And Wallenius Wilhelmseneven are subcontracting to companies such as Eukor Car Carriers etc. So there's a LOT of ships out there between W&W and their subcontractors!

                        • Hi guys

I received confirmation several weeks ago that my R went into production 27th of September (week 39) that's the last I heard. Anyone else have the same build week, and if so, have you heard anything from the dealer?

I want to start tracking boats with the rest of you guys!

                          Cheers

                          Pat

                            • Does anyone know how Cars get "secured down" in Cargo Ships ? eg, do the wheels get tied down to the internal decks to protect them from damage during rough seas or are they just parked in rows ?

                                It varies on the vehicle.
