How to track the car you have ordered?

Trying to follow this thread.
I ordered in last week of december through broker() and have been stuffed around since. No build date no VIN etc. Now delivery "May sometime".
Am I being unreasonable or is this a typical ETD?

That delivery date sounds reasonable (within 6 months from purchase).
If delivery is in May you shouldn't have a Vin until mid-March to early April.


I have been told June delivery for a 28 January contract.
Been given a commission number but have been told the Vin will be provided when the factory allocates the car to be built and not to expect it until April.

I had a similar problem going through a broker. I got to the point that I cancelled the order.
It seems as if they are all over you until you have paid the deposit and they have taken their "fee". Then you are left in nowhere land. No communication, nothing.
I believe that because you went through a broker the dealer pushes your order to the back of the queue.
Sorry trueman, moral of the story DON'T go through a broker!

I ordered my GTI the end of October. Hate to rub it in but it arrives tomorrow.

Im really confused how thats working.. I have a 09 build being delivered to me 1st week of april if everything goes right.. I added sat nav after.. maybe that delayed it or maybe the fact i got 11% discount they pushed my oder out lol

It also states that the dealer originally ordered the car on the 22/10/09.......8 months before delivery

I ordered almost identical spec in early December, and it looks like the build/delivery schedule is almost identical. Maybe they've grouped together all the white 3-doors

I think your right about them grouping them together.. I watched a youtube link on mk6 golf production lines and it showed them grouped by colour on the production line??

Mine was just discharged last night. I expect another two weeks of waiting.

No. According to the contract I signed, ETA was April/May. I'm really happy it comes earlier.

Is there anyway you can track with what a dealer refers to as a factory order or commission number? I have been given this and told the vehicle is in production now so should have it by the end of May. Or do i just have to take the dealer at his word?
