How to track the car you have ordered?

Hi guys, i have been told by my dealer that my golf R is expected in Sydney around October 31st. This figure seems to have been given to a few others as well. How accurate is this date? Should i be optimistic in expecting that to stay true? I certainly hope that i won't be dragged into a 5-6month wait.

I hope you are right but I think pretty much all of us with 'R's on order have been told delivery end of November, i guess if the ship docks the end of October it will be November before you receive it, but i reckon it's going to be a few weeks later than they have told you.

Well, technically JaseVW's dealer could be right as well. "Expected in Sydney around October 31st" is when the boat will arrive around. Add your 3 weeks for customs/compliance/transport and a week's dealer preparation and JaseVW will be collecting his car around November 30 with the rest of us

True, I was told the polo is arriving on the 1st of sept, but they won't have it at the dealer until the 23rd.

IVe gotten a date of 15 October written on mine. I've already sold my soul for that. We'll see if my guy comes through. I believe he will. Before I was ordering a GTI, I had 30 September so when I changed I got told 15 Oct but that's being pessimistic (I was told) so that my hearts not broken.

I have no idea cause I never bought VW before. Should be ok though..

I think you will find that if you only ordered your R yesterday you will be looking at delivery January unfortunately.

mines on the same boat maltopia - Torino.... 3 weeks is not too long now!! .... did u check out the fremantle port site - they have webcams set up which is pretty cool...

i can confirm as well that 'liner release' stated on the WW logistics page means diddly squat (previous thread convo) or must of been an error in WW logistics page... the car was definately released last night, not a week ago...

I havent got any info from my dealer yet about status and eta of order. (dealer hasnt received much info himself, actually).
Has anyone else received a little more info?
I ordered mine 30th May 2010. ETA on contract is 30th sept (i know its just an ETA)
So have any of you ordered a GTI around may/june time - and received a more detailed status of your order?

Any guesses/estimations?
I'm wondering if any know/have been told by their dealers when the next build week is to occur and thus when they should expect delivery.

Hi stevie_t, ask your dealer to provide you with a screenshot of the NADCOM "ETA Data" page. For you to be receiving the car on 30th Sept, it would already have to have been either started or more likely finished production.

See the first post from this thread for what the dealer can see. There is no way that the car is only 1.5 months away and the "dealer hasnt received much info himself".

I ordered my GTI 24 April, 2010 with an original ETA of mid August. On speaking with Tracey from Barloworld yesterday she advised that the car's ETA into the country would now be 11 November (as told to her by VWA). Still no Build week on NADCOM.

I was told by a dealer that there was a manufacturing delay at around about the time that VW was transitioning from MY10 to MY11. Apparently there were some parts supplies issues and also talk of the fact that VW moved the GTI manufacturing from the Wolfsburg plant in Germany to another plant in Germany.
My dealer that I have ordered my GTI from has had their stock cars in the VW scheduling system wince January this year and they are just about to be given a slot in the build schedule. At best guess, if they schedule those for mid-late August build, they wont come off the line until late Sept and then in Oz about 7 weeks later, so mid November.

GTI manufacturing move... hope nothing to worry about

Hi again Stevie_t - I posted this in another thread but I ordered my GTI on 6th August and have already been told that my vehicle is scheduled for Build week 38 (around 13th September). I think this will translate into Oz arrival/delivery to me in mid-late November.
The only reason I got so high up the Q (having just ordered a week ago) is because my dealer put my name against one of their stock cars they have had on order since mid January. He was able to modify the spec to what I wanted without losing the spot in the Q.

If you ordered in late April and haven't been given a build week yet, you might not see it until early next year. I would get onto the dealer again.

Can anyone tell me when the first batch of MY11 GTI's are expected to be in the hands of owners in Oz, so that we can confirm the "actual" MY11 changes ? From other posts, it sounds like some time in the next 2 weeks.
