New suspension is such a great feeling. I like the height you have your car at. Whats your next move it's a never ending saga haha

Windscreen wipers have been going dead slow lately. Pulled them and attempted to fix. driver side was seized. Broke a mounting tab trying to free it up. Quick trip to the wrecker got it sorted.
The donor car had a revised version, plastic covers to stop water getting into the shaft.

On a VR or TDI you might, it's easy enough on the GTI.
Just expensive, a nuisance and disappointing that VW can screw up such fundamental/simple things.
You can get the fans out easily enough on the GTI. just had to remove the plastic air intake bits and push the rad hose to the side.
I pulled the big fan out and managed to pull it apart and fix.
I found the brushes were not getting close enough to the commutator.
A bit of silicon grease and they slipped into the correct position. Working perfectly now.
Today I finally got around to fitting my R32 H&R front sway bar and poly front control arm bushes. Bushes were easy, but that sway bar was a bastard of a job. Dropped the subframe, took out the old one (it was rubbing on the drive shaft).
Got the new one in... kinda. It wasn't fitting right, and I couldn't figure out why. It was jammed up against the front of the steering rack, and I couldn't get the sway bar bushes to line up. Took it back out and my brother says "It's bent." So it was. Bought it used off a forum user and it had obviously been involved in a bingle at some point. Won't name any names, but I'm sure he must have known it was bent. Straightened it out with a bit of work on the press and back in it went.
Had a hell of a time getting the steering rack reattached to the subframe, as the R32 sway bar was a couple of mil bigger in diameter and the locating tab on the steering rack fouled it. Out with the grinder, touched up the tab and tickled it back in.
Then had hella trouble getting the sway bar bush brackets located into the slot, got that in with a bit more tickling with the hammer.
Gotta thank my little bro ASA572 who got out of his sick bed to come and help. 41 degree heat didn't help much , but it's all good now. Sway bar clears the driveshaft (R32 item runs underneath) and the poly control arm bushes feel good.
At the risk of whoring this out again, how good does it look?! Loving the silver and black - very crisp - glad you got the clunking issue sorted too. (Must be a relief to find out it's not the dreaded gearbox!)

Car looks good in the signature pic - need more pics though.
