  • not to be the devils advocate. but you would have to be in a VERY serious accident to need to worry about that..

edit. you might want to look into what year the car is/what emission laws/adrs you have to comply with as it is an older car you might be right. i dont know if the NCOP is in place yet either? wasnt under the impression it was.

anyway dont get disheartened the car looks good, i dont know about NSW but an older car that is neat, here in qld rarely gets hassled. and unless your in a really big accident, with police involved/someone really gets hurt badly insurance is unlikely to be a problem.

you can always do the ol' "it was like that when i got here" old alfa's, fiats, and even toyotas came stock with twin dual throats...

    • that's teh worst.

What about having it on club rego, and just driving it weekends and stuff? (ie to and from the race track.)

You could always swap the carb out to a standard looking one, and borrow some seats from someone else (looks at dom) that should get it past the inspection.

Then make sure your insurance covers the mods ie just car. they're all for modded cars.

is it the compliance plate or the VIN plate that you're missing. it's australian delivered, so it shouldn't need a compliance plate, since it's australian delivered. Unless you mean the VIN plate. which is a bugger.

Who was the engineer. I know that they vary in their responses when it comes to these things so it may pay to get a second or third opinion on it.

Maybe browse a hot rod forum because they sure as hell don't fit the mould when it comes to the bits they run on full rego.

              • can the chassis number determine the year of manufacture? or is that what the VIN Number and Compliance plate is for?

                • BS dude. There's fair number of cars that came with DCOEs as standard. ALL carbies are tunable! HTF would manufacturers get engines to run right if they weren't?! Get a better engineer. That guy is obviously a knob.

                  • Somethings not right. The shell is an Aussie one and must have been registered at some time so shouldn't be a problem re-registering.

Sound like you've got an engineer who's a looser.

                      • Good luck.

If you get a blue slip officer with some common sense that sees you've done everything properly, you should be OK, mate.

                          • so it was a long day ahah but there is both some good and bad news, although i think the good outweighs the bad.

the good news, the car passed the inspection easily and the mechanic was happy with the car and the work done. as a result he doesn't need to see the car again.

the bad news, to finalise the process he needs records of past registration in the ACT and although both the NSW and ACT RTA have this on their records, they can not give it to me for privacy reasons, so i've put in an application to get the information required which will take a few days. just want to note how unhelpful the rta is, the place is filled with middle-adged women who are just there to say "our department doesn't deal with that". bunch of wankers.

other option is to find the guy a i bought the car off and see if he has the reciept from his purchase of it from the act.

anyways, the car will pass by the looks of it, just waiting on some info.
