  • so took the car to the exhaust shop today, was the first time driving in on the road since the build. can't really explain what it was like turning out of my lane onto public roads for the first time, but let's just say it was a massive buzz.

car goes great, couldn't be happier at the moment, really. its loud, theres vibration, its tight and there is a **** load of induction and i just love it! don't think i took the most direct route to the exhaust shop lol gave it the beans a couple of times and ahah the cam is as i suspected high-end orientated and comes on at about 3000rpm and pulls sweet till i'm guessing 6300 range...

only managed to get told off by one neighbour so all in all it was a great day, was having so much fun i didnt even go to uni lol but yeah as you can prob tell from the pictures i got all the exterior trims on yesterday and finished off the interior. hope you like, cause i definately do!

        • Just one thing, I don't think that extinguisher meets CAMS specification as I think that they need twin metal restraining clasps.

Did you get hub centric spacers?

Other than that it looks fantastic - maybe a deep duckbill spoiler to finish it off nicely! (oh by the way, I might just have one coming up for sale soon! )

yeah i did get 5mm ecs hubcentric spacers at the front and the fire extinguisher said CAMs approved on the boxed when I bought it, which was why I did?

let me know about the duckbill thanks mick, I ordered one from the UK like a month ago but it hasn't turned up so I put a dispute in through EBay to get my money back but in the mean time I want one lol! then I can free up the one I asked Chris to hold onto me till nats.

            • I was not sure about the CAMS approval nowadays, all I know is that I had a bit of a hard time with one that did not have dual metal straps in the past. So I got this type...

                • looks like i might be getting the car engineered prior to blue slip?

will save a lot of stuffing around with rego and as this will be my daily, will avoid defects in the future?

opinions? .... not sure if it will pass blue slip as in, due to mods etc.

                      • was on the phone to an engineer this morning. and basically in so many words the car is can not be registered.

the carb's wont meet emission standards. and even if they pass, they can't be tuneable.

the recaro's are heavier than factory seats.

there is no compliance plate, which means it will have to go to an RTA inspection booth, which according to him is a **** fight.

and then even if i do get it registered by someone dodgy, in the event of an accident all my insurance will be void anyway.

                        :S

f*ck this. motivation = 0, f*ck you rta. and f*ck me for building it.

                        advice?

Id just get dodgy road worthy and roll with it.

                              • That's ****ed. Their jerks and mostly there to make everything harder.

I know it's a pita, but swap on a standard head with standard cam and carb, borrow some standard seats, get it rego'd then swap everything back?
