          • Hey guys, not a huge update or anything but here it goes..

Today was bored and realised i had no 6x9 speakers. So i went abouts to make new rear door cards (quarter cards? ahah) and also cut a hole for the speakers. I didnt want to do it to my existing ones as they were pretty nicely covered in a leather vinyl.

Didnt turn out too bad i suppose.

I know its nothing huge but i didnt want to ruin the suprise, however i'll have to in the search of advice. I've decided to cover my whole front bar in stickers, due to the lack of money to re-straighten and re-crome it. I've started off and jsut needs a bit more. I love the concept of having a different, never seen before golf, so i went for it. It turned out alot better than i had expected, will post pics when complete.
The big question is, what can i put over the bar to protect the stickers from peeling or fading. I was thinking a clear coat with a spray can wll be fine, but then what exactly am i looking for. I even though maybe a layer of gladwrap or something jsut to give it extra protection ahaha. Anyone got ideas ?

            • clear vynal (spelling) wrap. Or clear contact even (used to wrapping books even) Clear coat might work too though, thought I'm concerned how it would go sticking to the stickers. You could always do a test and find out!

              • wrap in clear contact so it goes behind the bar, then seal it with some good duck tape on the back side so it wont peel off

                • I'd go with 2 pack polyurethane myself, hard as nails that stuff.

Bunnings sells it in the timber paints section. It's usually used to hard surface coffee tables.

Wont i need a compressor and a gun for that mate?

Also how do i use the clear contact.. the only one i've seen is for books, and its around A3 size. Never seen anything bigger.. ?

                    • That urethane can be applied with a solvent resistant foam roller I believe. Might be worth going and asking someone at the counter.

I wouldn't use contact either. Try a sign writing supply place like Supply one and get some clear sign writing vinyl. It comes in sizes big enough to cover a truck and is weather proof for 8 years.

You make me move towards the sign writing place. Since they do specialize in stickers and such.. thanks mate would never have thought of it. I just went past and saw clear vinyl contact liek the ones for books, a whole 1.5m roll for about 5 bucks. I want to try it but am scared if it fades or shrinks due to heat, when i try to take it off it will take have the stickers off too .. so i'll jsut do more research.

On another note, i just got a stock exhaust from a friend, from his Civic Ek. It has the same dimensions, and hopefully ill be able to put it on soon, because my current exhaust is too loud an driving me crazy.

My carb will also be going up for sale soon because they way i drive it drains my petrol, and its a performance carb. Only thing that pisses me off is, as i take corners, there seems to be a sudden loss of fuel and the car cuts out. Its very strange.. any thoughts? (this has been going on for a long time)

That's typical of a progressive weber on a passat manifold, you need smaller jets and the float level set up properly. Do a bit of google'ing on the subject, it shouldn't be too hard or expensive to sort it out.

                            • pretty sure he has a carb off a falcon, if the jets havnt been touch it will use bucket loads of fuel.
Go a 32/36 weber, i have a list of jets and what not to use a base start for a 1.8L

                              • What sort of economy should you be getting with a32/36 weber on a 1800?
