Although i do get black smoke sometimes, but how can i be overfuelling? Wouldnt the float to the carbi be shut when its full, and if overfuelling wouldnt the carbi be drowned? sorry im just a little lost haha. But apart from that its running pretty good. Im just going to pay the rego this week and she's back on the road for a good tune.
It's probably just steam. If your stem seals are a bit worn it may blow a bit of oil smoke on start up.. But i wouldn't worry about it unless it does it excessively all the time.

Paid off the rego today, and happily took the golf for its first proper drive.
As i left the house i realised the breaks were rubbish. I think they need to be bled or adjusted as they dont work AT ALL, which made driving pretty scary and had to go extra slow.
The gears still are extremely close although i just wanted to drive it, so that still has to be fixed. Aswell as 5th.
the reverse lights dont come on, and neither does the speedometer work. Iv checked that its plugged in properly in the back of the clocks thingo, and in the actuall gearbox, although still nothing. My eletrics also started playing up, for some reason wipers stoped working, the thing that squirts water stopped etc.
As i was driving i saw a road block ahead, and for the reasons above did a u turn immediately haha, and got away with getting the car checked luckily.
One of the major things i noticed was, when the car was driving (in gear) it made noises as like a clicking noise, although when i nuetral and rolling, the noises dissapear? could this be the gearbox.. The other problem was, as i took corners i felt the car "skipping" or hopping and it felt like i was driving on a flat tyre.
Could this be perhaps busted bearings or something similar? I think it should be checked straight away..- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

When you say "skips" do you litterally mean the inside wheel (in the direction your turning) skips?? if yes, you probably have a welded dif. which is super sweet
You should totally change that dump pipe exhaust tip to an upsweep pipe. I have a chromed steal one here if you want. PM mePic are on my thread.

I'm hoping Pete Jones can elaborate on this a bit.Last edited by Jarred; 19-05-2010, 04:12 PM.

That is, instead of the car 'skipping' it's actually cutting out moementarily when you're going around a bend. it's almost as if you're on and off the throttle like a switch, which makes the car jump around a bit. perhaps it's even similar to a learner on 'kangaroo juice'!

It just sorta jumps or perhaps the impression of the wheels rubbing. (im almost positive its not the wheels as i wasnt turning all that much and have never had this problem before). It just shakes, and rumbles on cornering, although not violently. My old man reckons it could be bearings or the drive shafts or control arm not tightened up properly. Unsure yet, anyway had this kinda problem before ??- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

Sounds like a collapsed CV joint. If the inner cage is smashed the bits will jam up inside the joint.
Best bet is to pull the drive shafts out, dismantle the CVs and take a look. They're probably due for a re-grease anyway.
Actually, didn't you have these apart before? Perhaps they didn't go back together properly, you can assemble them "locked up" and they look OK but won't work.

I dont know what it is, but its wierd as it only makes that noise/shake on the turns. None the less sat or sun will have to be jacked up and pop a look in. Is there anything specific to look out for ? eg something not tightened properly, not on properly, broken etc?- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

Worked on the bay again today. Guess its pretty much done, with only a few things left to do like paint the rocker cover and other cosmetics.
Tried to hide as much of the wires, and will most likely hide ALL of the ones i can when i get a bit more time.
Its a bit hard to see, but i got these thin skins that cover the hoses and give it a Braided Hose look. They look really good, and want to add some more.
You guys can also see the way i have ran/setup my f/p. Its a tiny bit noisy without music playing as its pretty much right near the cabin and the firewall. Meaning
it gets on my nerves sometimes haha.
This is basically what i have to gotten up to. Looks kinda good, but i want to add some blue hoses etc

Well today we had a look at the brakes. Tried to bleed it, but there was no air, it was just fluid. Even though it seems to be fine, the brake pedal goes straight to the floor and we have no brakes at all?
Could the problem be the master cylander? If so how much would one cost roughly..- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

Master cyl. is most likely bypassing. Can't remember what they're worth new, but not a ridiculous amount.
