Today finally got the engine going for a period longer than 2 minutes.
Fuel pump working fine and not flooding carbi. The fuel pump also stopped worked due to me changing the hose a slight bit bigger and took me 2 hours to figure why it wasnt working, i think due to the bigger diameter/width of hose it lost pressure. Engine starts on first crank although needs to be adjusted to advance or retard, at the moment it starts on a slight bit of advance if i remember correctly. Seems to be idling at 1000 revs and doesnt seem to die down. No leaks so far so it all looks pretty good.
Although a bit of smoke comes off the block, im guessing from when i first cleaned the engine with degreaser etc.
I let it run for about half and hour and no problems were seen or heard. LOL the only gear that goes in is first so gearing is the next thing im tackling as well as wires. Wont be long till its going again.
Heres a vid for fun(sorry for the poor quality, i must have degraded the quality on the cam)

Love the bumpers black, considering doing this myself to the set i have.
Had them on the green golf but it has no other chrome on car so looked funny, maybe all black it will be better!!.. what did you use to paint them?
Im thinking a quick sand, etch primer, then a satan black<space for rent>

To be honest i just gave it a quick sand, cleaned it and gave them both a few coats of Matt Black with Australian Exports. Its poor paint quality i know although i just wanted to see the result.
Im going to hopefully get a proper job done soon, once i straighten the bars out or get new ones.
As for the looks yeah i love it. Im going for a black/orange look so i love the black bumpers. You got any pics of the black/green? That sounds pretty good.
Should have kept it IMO its pretty different and un-common.- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

nah no good pics,
I removed all the chrome around the windows when i put newish rubber in.
No chrome on grill besides the badge, but that will be black soon.
Bumpers are black,
Going to respray all the GTi arches and the Duckbill.
Will hopefully look good, just need to paint the Blue panels to match the green.. or a full respray haha

LOL at the blue panels.
If the paint on the body is good then no need for a full respray. Are you planning to strip and shave everything off and make it black, or going to have a bit of chrome?
I was origally going to spray my wheels black but im going to have white in trial and make my decision. What you reckon white/black or just make em silver again? I even have complete black stripes to go alond the door and panels. Should look good, hopefully next week everything is going to be put together.- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

Mmm, well ill give the rims a quick coat of white tmoro just to see the result. I dont have the bottom gti stripes, i was talking about the higher ones, the thin stripe up top along the the side of the car.
How hard is it to get the gti bottom stripes anyway?- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

Price range for what wheels? ROTA? I'd shoot WABIT a PM. He's the wheel man.
