Yeah I found with my BMC CDA that it mainly improved down low turbo response but other than that and "sweet intake noise" it's about it.

Got mine installed in my MK6 GTD yesterday. I can definately hear more turbo spool when accelerating, and there is less turbo lag. The sound of accelerating for the first 10 mins or so is a bit noisy; but it seems to settle down after that.

Just sounds like I can hear the turbo fan spinning more than before, and the CAI sucking more air in.

TDI's have a choke cycle boys, injects extra fuel / EGR flap is pulling in extra EGR to aid warmup, mine is the same, super noisy till warmed up, and it's insane when doing a regen!

You should hear what a regen sounds like with a downpipe. Rattling 5" Civic muffler, anyone?

I was also quite surprised how my exhaust after the mufflerectomy sounded in regen mode.

                  aaah!

The MK2 kinda does this. There is a hose bolted to the exhaust manifold that connects to the underside of the airbox to send warm air in.

It was the first thing I deleted

I'm convinced now of de-gridding my MAF.

Not really - the tdi warm up cycle actually takes exhaust gasses back into the inlet of the engine to help warm up faster. Your mk2 just takes warm air from around the exhaust pipe to help warm up faster. .... its actually a good thing to keep on the old petrol cars because it gets the engine up to temp faster. Theres a flap in the bottom of the airbox that shuts the supply of warmed air off once the engine is warm, so there's no decrease in power or economy.

Anyone know if the same part number CI100022 is appropriate for a '11 TDI Octavia vRS?

I found this rather hardcore explanation:

Right. Well I knew at least it was recycling hot air to warm it up

True but the MK2 warms up pretty quick and I always take it easy until the oil temp's up to 90.

I always understood that heater pipe thing was more for the european winters.

Also I had the oil cooler/warmer retrofitted to mine which aids warm up significantly.

De-gridded my MAF today. Well, I cut it out

It does feel a touch spritely under load but there's no extra power.

Well worth the 10mins of effort

Are you running a different air intake or still stock?
