Replacing RNS 510 with RCD 330+

Hi Guys,

I am new here and nice to meet you all.
I am also like you guys excited to upgrade this HU and went ahead on my Golf MK6. But now I am facing a problem. My OPS is not showing on screen. I searched numerious forums and tried different coding and upgraded CAN Gateway as well but still no luck. So I hope someone from here can pinpoint my problem.

- My OPS is retrofitted one which I purchased from AliExpress.
- When I put reverse gear or press the button, only make beep sound. (The rest function as expected, only visual is not showing on screen)
- Radio volume is lowered (which mean Radio is communicating with this OPS module?)
- For wireing, I tapped High/Low to CAN Gateway (I believe this is correct as I am able to access OPS module Address.10 via VCDS)
- For 12V power, I connected to ACC (Power). Which mean can activate OPS without starting the engine. (Is this should be the right way?)
- My OPS module is 56D 919 475 A. (Module itself is problem?)
- When I scan using VCDS, there is a one “Missing message” error. But most people said they also have that error and not effecting the functionality. Some said have to upgrade instrument cluster. (I have no idea)

So kindly please help me as I spent so much time on this and also invested a lot on this.

Check coding on your Park assist module, may need to check a bit for RVC.

My memory ain't what it used to be but I vaguely recall also going into radio/navigation/and or instrumentation modules and ticking certain bits.

When I first installed a new RNS510 a couple of years ago I couldn't get it to function properly until I manually changed the long code numbers using my Ross Tech cable which I think I was given a web link from the seller after many phone calls.

I also recall having to reboot the HU by holding certain buttons on face of the HU so it recognizes the changes.

This may not be of any help whatsoever so ever but you will sort it eventually with persistence.

I have received the cable today but surprisingly VCDS is not able to found my RCD330+. I have already enabled 56.Radio and no matter what I did (Unplug battery, reboot RCD), not able to read.
I believe CAN gateway is already talking with this head unit since temperature and time are synced correctly. Some more when I put reverse gear, radio volumn is lowered automatic. Am I right?

You can see from your autoscan that your canbus gateway has a fault - it cannot see anything on the infotainment bus.
The radio is accessed on this bus. So until you fix this issue you will not be able to get the head unit to see the CAN signal that the car is in reverse and turn on the camera.
You need to first look at the cabling - is there a quadlock adapter harness that the radio plugs into?

I have no idea of the history. Normally you should not have to be swapping pins around.
But you need to do whatever you can to restore communication to the infotainment bus from the CAN gateway.

If you are installing a discover media that uses address 5f theb you need a newer gateway software but I think 330g uses address 56 radio.
What if you put your rns back in?

Changed back to original can gateway and still the same. If I unchecked 56.Radio from can gateway, there is any error on can gateway.

Now I have no idea why gateway is not talking to Radio if checked in gateway installation list. From other hand, time and temperature are showing correctly on head unit which mean there is communication from gateway to radio. I am very confused.

Do I need canbus decoder?

You need to tick address 56 radio. Not untick it.
