  • I think it's the blue one (or one of those down the bottom) that needs to be extended to reach the HU. Although I thought it was pink on my one (that pic is from an Audi though).

        • Well i installed the 9w7 from the spanish ebay guy a few weeks back and it is great. Everything was good and i had mdi phone menu active using vcds but one of the annoyances was inability to stream bluetooth audio from my iphone 4s using ios5. I read vraptors previous post that he had it so i decided to upgrade firmware from 2680 to 3810. Also took the opportunity to change to version 5 maps from version 3.
Anyway bluetooth audio rocks. Comes out of all speakers and sounds the same as my ipod connected to mdi or music on the sd card. Other advantages are ability to stream the audio for youtube and other sources but coolest part is that with my tunein radio app i now have digital radio in the car.
Along with this are the custom POIs from aussietig means my rns 510 has so many more toys.
Also my video in motion that i previously had still works despite the firmware upgrade. Interestingly the test menu disappeared. Had to re enable it using VCDS.
All in all a useful upgrade.....happy camper here.

          • I installed the bluetooth 9w7 last week and did the VCDS coding today - everything is working fine except now the mdi audio does not work from the connected ipod. The tracks etc show and it appears to play but no sound can be heard. I am 97% sure this was working before doing the VCDS coding.

            Any suggestions?

            • Umm, read the posts above, we just answered that question (again). I know this thread is massive and all, though.

              • I'm pretty sure the mdi was working after I installed the Bluetooth. Broken after vcds.

                • Did you make a note of what you changed as per the suggestions in the VCDS thread?

Scan for faults and see if anything comes up, and double-check the MDI is enabled in the Installation List.

                    • quick questions guys.

I've read over 75% of this thread weeks ago and all i remember is how confused i was.

Will the 1Z0 035 729 B display phone call info on the red MFD as well as give you a phone book on the RCD510?
If not, is there any model out there that will give me phone functions on the red MFD (via steering wheel controls) and the phone book, contacts on the touch screen of an RCD510?
or which is the best model for me?

2006 Passat, red MFD, RCD510, MDI

                      thanks all

to answer ur question - yes.

this link carsystems.pl should address your question about the 1Z0035729B.

the 7P6035730F is cheaper, but it will only work on the rcd/rns screen. it won't show/display on the red mfd.

                        • thanks dArK5HaD0w.

Looks like i'll go the cheaper option. I can't warrant the extra $150+ to get phone info on the red MFD.

What about the 9W7 one from bluewagon?

Seems like most guys here are happy with his price and service.

                          • Anyone know where there is a Manual for operating the 9wZ?
Need to know How I can use the MFD and Steering wheel controls to move through things.
Don't know if I missed a setting in VCDS.

I kinda tested it out tonight and Voice control works, but it it cannot find the right name to call it arks me to select one, but the up and down button on steeing whell only change the volume.

Also When I take my key out of the ignition the RCD510 radio switched to Phone screen and says "Phone Initialising..." or something. No Phone is connected, but this screen stays on for a while. I lok the car and it goes away.
                            Any Ideas?

I used voice commands to call a person with just a first name. It poped up a suggested list of contants on the MFD but I could not scroll it... I'm pretty sure I also tried the RHS buttons as well. I will have to look into it a bit more.
