Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Install was maybe 30 minutes taking it slow, although I think I could do it in about 10 after seeing how it's all put together. The comment I read about the water pipe touching the engine cover is about right... I might dremel a little groove in that later, but for now it's perfectly fine.
Performance feels much the same, although I didn't expect anything from an intake alone
Noise. Well this is interesting, I *think* there is more spooling up noise, but that could be in my head, what I have noticed is that the blow off is now much more noticeable and at light throttle and cruising it sounds like it's constantly bleeding boost, something you could ever hear before.
I'll have to give it a good drive before I can make any real comments however my first impressions are mixed, half of me likes the new noises the other half wants less noise... Will see which side wins!
And some pics:
(PS: On a side note, does anyone know if it matters which way around the filter goes? There doesn't appear to be any indication in the instructions or on the housing itself?)
Edit: I can confirm it scares small childrenLast edited by The_Hawk; 08-02-2012, 01:44 PM.

Are you able to upload those instructions somewhere or PM them? I always like to check them out before purchasing.

Look on the Forge sit. Cause I never got instructions when I received mine. It is very easy to install.
The_Hawk I had the small opening for the air in and the large side to the engine. If that makes sense.Last edited by Brendan_A; 08-02-2012, 02:31 PM.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

I emailed forge asking them
Which orientation for the filter and the response I got back was that under readying they found it worked identically regardless if orientation, but like Brendan I went with small side out.
Used the dremel today and it seems to have done the trick by the looks of thingsGolf MK VI Silverleaf 118TSI

Anyways how do you guys feel about tuning that significantly raises the torque output of the 118 engine past the 240 NM rating of the 7 speed dsg?
I'm new to tuning so I have to ask is a new intake worth it? I have other dumb questions lined up if you guys don't mind!

As for the intake, when your running a stage1 tune it is more noticeable in the top end and helps on a hot day. And the sound is awesome!!
Ask all the question you want. Pretty sure someone will be able to answer it.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

Actual the "real" torque rating is not on the DSG at all, its really on the dry clutch assembly which (like eveything that runs a wet or dry clutch) becomes one of the "fusible" links.
We have been doing a lot of work on the 7 speed clutch assembly & have learnt a few tricks recently
