I scraped all the tar sound deadening off the lower firewall/footwell today. FYI, best way is with a good scraper and a heat gun to soften the tar/glue.
Just when you think you're going to get away with finding no rust... You do the drivers side...
Not to worry. I'll get into that with a little scouring wheel on the die grinder (a real man's "dremel") and clean it all up, then hit it with some POR 15.
While we're on that subject, where's the cheapest place to get POR 15?

Nice work dude.
I think KBS Coatings has a product that is pretty close to identical to POR15, and a heap cheaper. (Doesn't claim to be scratch or crack proof though, only resistant)
Auto one should be able to hook you up.
One litre for $75 vs POR 15 which can run up to $130 a litre........

Are you sorting out the booster? Good time to move it to the correct side of the car.
Thats not rust. Go to Engerland, thats a country that knows about rust.
Good to see some progress.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

Haha I know i don't really have rust problems. It's a pretty rust free car which i'm happy about.

Pics here
I had a Scirocco Storm in the UK which I loved and I have always bemoaned the fact that I did not import it to Oz. When I had the opportunity to buy a 1986 Mk2 Sciroccoo Private import, I jumped at it, even though it was only a GT (1.8carby) and without the leather as in the Storm. It came to me with Jap wheels on it,
I basically just used an 8" booster from a SEAT Ibiza, the 9 was too big!!
You need to cut a slot in the firewall for it to slide over, then I bolted the back of it to a SEAT pedalbox inside the car, thus keeping all the connectors working well and doing away with the linkage bar.
I just put a dent in the leg for clearance, but you could cut the unibody and weld a piece in if you were feeling flash.
Its a good idea for clearance reasons with a 16v or 20V but its even better for pedal feel and brake responce.
I have a Mk1 with brakes from this milennium
The steering column is a mix of Mk1 and Mk3 parts, mainly so I had more reach with the column, for my late model blinker stalks.
It was a bit nerve wracking cutting the hole in the rocco, but once that was done, I just had to make it worksigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

Seat you say? Would a Mk3 Golf pedal box be the same? They are at a glance (not that i have a very clear memory of what that looks like..). I only ask because, for me, they are much easier to come across.
Doesn't sound like an extremely hard job to do. I've got the tools, now all i need is the parts and some skill. Haha.
I'll investigate this further this weekend. Cheers for the info dude. Muchly appreciated.
