I've always wanted to try a set of these pop-vents.

Available from aircraft suppliers.



The guards were previously bolted on with stainless M8 bolts which I'd always meant to replace. They were meant to be temporary for while I was painting the car.

Finally got around to replacing them with aluminium fairing bolts from a motorcycle supplier.

Off to round 1 of the Vic Super sprints tomorrow.

Looking forward to trying out the new 6 speed box.

I'll have to learn how to drive PI all over again.

Bit of a mixed bag today.

The weather wasn't being too kind to me and it looks like I've still got a bit of work to do on the new clutch setup.

Gearbox works well, I took it easy for the first couple of sessions to try and figure out the new shift points.

Very weird having a 6th gear in a MK1.

Late morning the change came in and there was a gale force wind blowing across the end of the straight, I just couldn't get into that corner fast enough to set any decent times.

In the second race the sole of my race boot decided to come off and I also got black flagged by mistake.

I had to wear the sneakers I'd driven down in which weren't the greatest for any precision footwork but satisfied the race regs

Sort of, they're second hand Sparco boots. All the right FIA and SFI ratings on them.

Now I have to figure out how to glue the sole back on and maintain the fire rating. Guess I can't use flammable glue! The boots might have had it.

Yeah, that's an ongoing problem, I'm in the gym 5 days a week and have had a trainer for the last 3 years. I'm fit and strong but having a hard time loosing the weight. I'm currently at 110kg my goal is to get below 100kg this year.

Hope you get there. I'm one of those who can eat what I want and don't put on weight but I couldn't build a car like yours to save my life.
