Yeah, when I took it for a drive on the weekend, I paid attention. The shifts are light and smooth. A slight notchyness to it that is better when warm, but not even slightly hard, and all gears slot in easy.

Melbourne to Sydney today. 9 hours driving, 9 hours 45 mins all up with a couple of stops. Over 900km, averaged 100kmh and 6.9L/100km with AC on, 4 people and bags on board. Door to door.
So much more comfortable, less draconian driving once you cross into NSW.

The gearchange issue will almost certainly improve and probably disappear as the car loosens up but an old trick to beat a sticky 1st gear change is to go from 2nd into 1st not Neutral into 1st. (When stopped of course!).MY2014 Skoda Octavia Ambition Plus Wagon, DSG, Capuccino, Tech Pack

From a STOP and if the car has been parked over night or in getting into the car after work, I often go into 3rd then 1st or 3rd then Reverse.
I do not have a scientific or mechanical reason for doing so, but that's what dad told me when I was learning to drive and I can't recall ever having experienced any noticeable notchy changes.
If someone has an explanation for why this works, do enlighten.RS
