I'm in Melbourne, and it's about 10-11 weeks for me. My car was built on Feb 6 and I got the car at the end of April.
Ordered (Mid-sept 2014 / Picked up, end of April 2015): Metal grey Octavia RS TSI hatch (MY15) | DSG |18" black pack | sunroof | tech pack | comfort pack

        • About the same lately, 6-7mths from order to getting it still. They think maybe a month was shaved off for us, but the shipping is the killer here. They seem to be treading carefully with getting in too many prebuilt ones as well.

          • Got a notice up on the maxi dot today that the oil change is due in 30 days on the vRS. I've done ~5500km. Dealer wants $423 for the oil change, seems a bit steep and I thought first service was at 15k or 1 year...

Any downside of going to a VAG specialist?

UPDATE: ok so dealer just emailed to say 1st service is 15k or 12 months and it seems like the pre-delivery didn't reset the service timer, as the build date was June 2014. Is there an easy way for me to reset it or does it have to be reset at the dealer?

I personally see no downside, though if you service your car only at a dealer, they may warranty things under goodwill once your warranty is expired. I pay around $300 for a simple oil and filter change through my mechanic.

                • I see the new Golf R wagon has more boot space than the octavia 3? How does that work? More legroom in the rear for the occy 3?

                  • The Golf R Wagon's boot space is quoted as 605 litres with the rear seats in place and 1620L with them folded, while the Octavia RS Wagon's boot measures 588L with the seats up and 1718 with them folded. Clearly there are differences with the interior dimensions of the vehicles, although I don't know if this translates into more legroom in the rear seating. It could simply be differences in the vehicles' dimensions, such as roof heights, widths etc. affecting the storage capacity in the rear loading area.

In the UK the combi boot capacity is quoted as 610 litres and with the rear seat down as 1740 litres with the caveat the figures drop by 20 litres if they option a spare wheel (standard here)
I could not find out if this meant that the Golf comes standard with a space saver spare in the UK?
The Golf estate has a lower rear loading lip and wider boot opening but I find the top of the rear opening uncomfortably low compared to the Octavia.
Golf wheelbase is 2637mm and Octavia 2686mm Although the VRS is 6mm shorter.

That was what the online source I looked at said it was but probably just characteristics of irs and torsion bar rear suspension.

                            • Yeah Aussie site is wrong as Gerry said - it's 610l seats up. I don't see how full sized spare makes a difference as the floor is all the way down with the spare in place (I.e can't gain space by removing it). 20l doesn't sound like enough volume for the wheel well if the wheel was removed.

Octavia has noticeably more room in back seat than golf

This is what I thought also.
