  • Took the car in to the Lennock dealership service centre this morning.

Turns out it was the wheel alignment that was out, it's been fixed and the car now tracks in a straight line (hurray!).

Lennock were excellent. They're booked solid for the next two weeks but squeezed me in anyway, was in and out in around an hour. Pretty damn impressed with the service actually. Will be going back for sure.

    • My next purchase now that there is another dealer nearby to me will come down to servicing, you only buy the car once, but you have to deal with the service dept for years. Having to go back for warranty work in another trip is more to do with Skoda HQ sitting with their thumbs up their backside than anything. Most other brands have the "warranty" dude who drops into dealerships and approves them there and then. You might still have to wait for the part, but sometimes not. Skoda don't seem to have anyone like that, weird as you would think they would have a VAG person.

Talking about wheel alignments. I got a wheel alignment done on my mk2 this morning, front and rear and tyre rotation. First time back in the car and applying the brakes and I almost go straight through the windscreen. Why would a tyre rotation and wheel alignment affect my brakes?

Brad should be able to answer this me thinks?

        • I don't know the answer.

Was it a long way out?

My brakes sharpen up if I blast the calipers with the gurney - did they clean anything?

The toe on the front and rear left tyres was out a bit. Other than that all good. I don't believe they cleaned anything.

            • Did they accidentally install new brakes?

Knowing how dirty the brake dust is on these cars, then if were them I would try and clean the area a bit before working on it.
Maybe the disks and pads got a bit of a clean as well.

Maybe because the wheels are pointing "straighter" there is more nose dive rather than energy being dissipated try to go left?

Maybe the tech gave it a bit on his road test and cleaned the build up off the pads? I know my brakes work better after a couple of firm stops.

Peter did my Octavia earlier this week and very happy with the work done ..... Traffic reports came in 15 mins after being loaded. I wasn't sure whether they'd be current but on a trip tda a report showed an accident on riverside expressway Brisbane. The time posted was 1219pm and I went thru at 1243pm and it was just about cleared. Was also alerted to roadworks on my way home (that weren't there in the morning) .... These were in progress when I passed thru. Excellent!

Interested. Does the upgrade cover speed cameras / radar traps as well ?

I believe it will just be the Traffic updates using VCDS.

I can confirm that the current version of the POIs with speed/safety cameras are not compatible with the Columbus system. I've been told that work is continuing on this. The current version works on the VW Discovery Pros.

                            • Yep. I enabled traffic alerts through VDCS too, it's a simple process that should have been enabled at the factory!

Traffic not supported by Skoda Australia .... Suppose they didn't want to pay for Suna TMC licences ... Luckily this can hurdle can be overcome with access to VCDS and a cable
