Mine goes the the "Welcome to VW" screen if I press the SD button 2x(for SD Mode) with SD Loading overlay with the little blinking star shaped thing and sits there for a while. If I go to Radio or BT and then back to SD it will do it again. Funny thing is it didn't do it before I flashed it!
I get this too when switching to SD.

I'm on latest firmware, removed save dir from primo folder but still bad GPS reception. I'll try to move GPS on weekend.

    • Is anyone having it that during SD playback the radio has a mind of its own? Mine has skipped from SD to radio 5 times now since I started my car 10min ago

sounds similar to the issue I saw, but mine was just on the mfd. Sd kept playing like normal, just the mfd was doing funny stuff. It sorted itself out after 30s or so though.

Yea, I'd say it's your gps placement. As I said above, a small movement could make all the difference.

        • Hmm yeah, mine keeps flipping from SD back to radio, then will stay on radio for s few seconds and reload SD. I ended up turning off SD as it was really bad, play maybe 30-60 seconds, flip to FM, back to SD & repeat till it ceased with that monsun.exe error

          • It sounds to me like there's still a bit of work to be done on the SD reader module. Hopefully AS can come up with a fix for us in the next firmware update.

Another quick question for Sandy -

I notice on the list of inputs on the unit there is a 3G input. Is this to connect a dongle? Is this a chance of ever getting working? It would be cool to get the live traffic working!

Completely separate note, can anyone recommend somewhere to get a decent skin for igo primo 2.4? (don't know which version y'all got on your SD card, but that's what I sourced.)

Its corrected the screen dimming yes, however I still think that when you turn your headlights on that the screen should dim to one of the two lower settings as its still rather bright. I've been manually adjusting the screen at night to dim it down a Tad more.

Surely it should dim in line with the dimmer switch on the dash for all of the dash lighting?

I'm hoping eventually it does. As mine is always set to the dimmest. So even on low the DNS seems to be blinding me.

                  • Nope, mine just dims slightly when I turn the lights on, I just hit the dim switch on the radio to sum it down more, they sould build in a option to allow you to select the 'dim' brightness option profile for the radio, that would be ideal

                    • Headunit definitely seems to be very stable with the new firmware, after using it a fair bit the last few days. Haven't had any crashes, all the canbus stuff works, pretty happy, insofar that it's still a prerelease version.

Still all those minor issues remaining, but at least it's now stable.

Yea I agree, I'd like an option to chose what level of brightness is on normal, and what level of brightness when the lights are on.

I actually find the brightest option a little to dim for my liking, but probably because it's summer here and the days are very bright.

                      • Sandy, I know you are probably busy as heck but I think AS owes you (and us) an updated feature set on the DNS. There have been features communicated, then changed (capacitive vs resistive, full android mirroring with touch control to maybe just mirroring for iphone and android with no touch control), features that are added (we think) like internet capability (with the browser and Net Work settings in the newest firmware). There was the promise of full ODBII support, full MFD (more than 1 line) support including navigation, etc. Full production units are to be released on Dec 12th (I think) so at this point, AS should have a concrete idea of the hardware capabilities they are building which can support what software features (ie Canbus/MFD, internet, etc) are included. This includes any add on modules that have to interface with the hardware somehow. I think it's time that people know what to expect for a $700 unit.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I like the DNS and what is has to offer, just need to understand the expected features that I bought this unit based on before it's too late to turn back. Eg, 3 months down the road, AS decides that the mirroring is not something they can do/want to do...then what? Would you honour a full return?

Definitely a question that must be answered for both prospective buyers & existing buyers in the group buy.

After all the countless threads and the if's/but's/maybe's, Sandy can you please spell out exactly what the specs are and what is or isn't included in this DNS unit.

                          • So is anything being done for the people that didn't get a unit with the wrong spec screen?

                            • so asides from taking a little while to turn on. not being the best to read in sunlight. sometimes freezing on some mps on the USB stick. digital tv taking a little while to work. and the map software being a bit laggy........the ANS710 in my vw touareg is not bad.
so whats major different with these new units? it seems like the big ticket items that made them so great.....arnt really included anymore
