  • Has anyone tried the aux in using the OEM 3.5mm jack in the console (just above the handbrake in my car). It doesn't work for me.

        Installed mine today.

Tried aux and mine doesn't work too.

Does this unit drain a lot of power? Only reason I ask is because I got a flat after playing with it for 10 mins with the car off. Had to jump start my car...

IDk about the aux, still waiting on cables.

Battery drain seems odd, I played with mine for a good 30 mins last week, without starting the car, started the next morning no issues.

          • If you're having issues with the aux-in jack please let me know what car model and what year.

I have played with my unit for 30 minutes without a flat battery as well. What exactly were you doing, and did you have the volume on loud?

As for the features, they are pretty much as stated in the first post. A quick summary of the advantages the DNS system has over ANS are below:

1.2Ghz Cortex-A9 CPU, 512MB RAM (as opposed to 700Mhz CPU and 128MB RAM)
full 1080p support (ANS series may not load files with resolution much higher than 800x480)
mp4, mkv etc newer codec support
            lossless audio codec support
            OEM connections at the back
            support for OEM aux-in
OEM Philips radio module for improved radio reception
shuffle across folders on SD / USB
music and video interface - touch progress bar anywhere to skip
            anti-reflective screen
memory (quick dial) in Bluetooth interface like the RNS-510
            BT phonebook search function
mirror link (requires module - in its current form, iPhone + Android compatible but without on-screen control on the unit)

            Planned features:
            MFD phonebook
            MFD navigation directions
            MFD three-line display
            trip recorder (module)
            OBD2 (module)
full music library with ID3 tag-based browsing (incorporating iPod as well)

That's all I can think of for now, I usually forget to mention a couple of things with feature lists.

Regarding those who have received the unit with resistive screens, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to go about the issue since I have had some people say to me that it doesn't bother them at all while others say it's almost a deal breaker. Personally I haven't found it to be a real issue, especially since the RNS-510 is also resistive. That said, the point is that the unit was supposed to be capacitive. I think it is best for those who feel like this is an issue to message me. I can't do much better than $20 off per person if I'm to give a universal discount since Audiosources is not supporting me on this, but if those who don't mind are kind enough to not seek compensation I can give the others a bit more. Of course if you don't mind but feel like you are entitled then you are still free to message me.

By the way if anyone is having issues with the resistive screens to the point that the unit is selecting a different part of the screen, this is NOT normal - I've come across this in the ANS series before and it usually is because something is a little too tight in the faceplate assembly and putting pressure on the screen. Let me know if you are experiencing this but from memory I think I only saw one mention some time ago.

            • So is mirror link currently on the software in the DNS? As in, when I get the aux and USB cable I'll be able to see my phone screen on the DNS? I thought this was a future thing.

Sorry, edited to clarify that you need the module.

                  • So odds are looking slim for getting the capacitive screen then?

Because I dunno about others, but I'd gladly pay (or really, just not get the $40 in discounts that's being offered/I'm owed ($20 from a few months ago that I've been too busy to organise)), to swap out my unit with one with a capacitive screen when I get back to Brisbane in 2.5 months.

Resistive screen is fine and all, but capacitive is just so much nicer,

If that's even an option at all....

I second this, as the resistive screen in my unit is annoying at times, plus the white screen of death doesn't help matters any. The issue with my screen having s mind of its own could be an assembly issues, as at night I can see a bit of white backlite in a section around the CD slot, perhaps the faceplate & screen aren't meshing up correctly, mind you I'm not sure how that would effect the center of the screen selecting things, that to me is almost an issue with the layering of the screen itself.

I know you are trying to find a happy medium b/w buyer & supplier Sandy but you need to make a point to AS $h!t like this won't be tolerated.

This is an arrogant response from AS as they initially advertised something different & buyers only found out upon delivery... and now the 'suck it up' response?!?

How much comfort do we have the final product will be bug free & not left unfinished (like the ANS) with an attitude like that?

I haven't seen AS advertise any specs for the DNS!
Sandy got told by a "Manger" what the spec was going to be and past those onto us.

Well a sales rep/officer/manager representing the company holds the company liable.

So a manager stating it includes this, this & this means that is what AS needs to deliver.

                              • Are there any available changes through VCDS that could improve performance or stability of these units?
