Well I was actually about ready to drive the thing into a ditch a couple of weeks ago but Gavin came to the rescue with some inspirational words. Something along the lines of "it wasn't broken before, so whatever is wrong with it can be fixed". Really gave me a fresh perspective, and more drive to get this car sorted, really want to hit the 1/4 mile when it's ready. What's the fasted ET a 1.8t has done in Australia?
So got my car back after I though the wavetrack blew. Turns out it was just the driver side driveshaft, completely destroyed the inner cv. Fresh one in and all good, big thanks the Jmac for spotting before he pulled the box out! Might have to look at a set of raxles if I keep braking them. Also decided to have another crack at some centre caps for the driftteks, please excuse the brake dust covered wheel
I just pulled up at Jimmy's as you drove off, good to see it on the street again. And a simple fix. PS you left a box of bits there.

Haha thought that s3 looked familiar. I was in a rush to get to work though, I'll be up your way on the weekend visiting Brendan though so might pop in for a chat if you're around.
Sooo looks like I have a slow leak in my rear drivers tire, I'm probably gonna get a new set. Anyone recommend any hot deals atm? In other news I recieved my ie press fit crank sprocket so we can safely turn up the boost and not worry about the keyway shearing and my pistons meeting my valves. Hopefully my billet injector cups turn up today so I can paint my intake manifold on the weekend
So drove to the Gold Coast and back yesterday and didn't it miss a beat but it has developed this clunking/vibration when taking off or changing gears hard. I was tidying up a breather hose today and had the airbox out and I discovered this...
The casing has literally blown off and is nowhere to be seen haha. Didn't even last a year.
Here you can see some nice metal on metal contact
Looks like a set of VF engineering mounts are on order.
Thats unlucky lito! Hope you can get that sorted. Where did you get the seal for the inlet manifold and rocker cover?
Yeah, I thought I'd give these a go as they were only $200 and people say they are rated to around 380nm. Looks like I must be making a bit more than that haha. I got the gaskets from Integrated Engineering, you can get them most places but I was buying their new crank pulley so I figured I may as well pick them up as well. Just be sure you buy large port intake manifold gaskets.
So looks like I've got some work ahead of me over the long weekend. I scored a manifold of Jmac that was already painted black so that has saved me a lot of effort, whoever painted it did a nice job too
And just picked up my billet injector cups from usrt after over 4 weeks!!
Apparently there was a hold upwiththe install tool so I said don't worry about it and they sent me a set of sweet wire brushes instead, made in the USA and erythang haha.
So the to do list for the weekend is;
Replace valve cover gasket
Swap intake manifolds
Replace throttle body and IM gaskets
Install billet injector cups
Install OEM (not ****ty ebay brand that's already acting up) coolant temp sensor
Install VF engineering motor mounts (should be here tomorrow)
Then drive it!!
Then it's time to start thinking seriously about a clutch. Pretty set on the fx400, anyone know if I can keep my 228mm single mass flywheel with this clutch?
