I presume you have checked with another dealer just as a matter of interest , its amazing what dealers will sometimes do to get a deal or even tell the dealer you have ordered with that some other dealer is willing to give better service , you would be surprised at the effect this can have . My next closest dealer is in the next city down 4hrs drive (400klm) away. Not really too inclined to have dealings over that distance.
I will have to ask the dealer now about that unlimited K's warranty. Have not heard of that from VW.
Ahh, looked it up. Its 3 years with unlimited K's.
So if it makes it to 3 years with 10,000klm on clock, the warranty is up.
If it makes it to 3 years with 1,000,000klm on the clock, the warranty is up.
Either way, its limited to 3 years, end of story.
I will have it for at least 4 years, hence I went with extended 5 year warranty, which gives me the option for a longer hold period.
Have just spoken to the dealer, who has got info back from VW, who say there is at least a 2 month extra delay on transporters and other VW lines due to global factory demand. Anyone else having longer wait times? Mine has not hit production yet at 5 months since order, will not arrive till at least February 2012
Explained to dealer that this will not work for me, van was ordered to replace ailing 03' T4 which is limping on a tranny that's leaking from every orrifice, and developing new faults daily due to the klm's. The van has a daily load of 500+kg, and can do 1000klm a week easily. He is now speaking to VW and the dealership about options for a temp van (VW or hire) or they keep my van going at their cost till new one arrives.

Not just related to VW but money grubbing dealers have it all on their side they will get your signature on a document that is geared their way ie they have the right to change the price of the vehicle if there is a delay or price rise whilst waiting delivery .Also the trade in valuation would probably be changed due to the time unless they give you a loaner vehicle . I know when I bought our first T4 I was trading in our Verada wagon the dealer as soon as I put pen to paper wanted our trade in as he claimed he had a buyer for it and did not want us driving it in case we thrashed it or damaged it . The delivery of the new van was only a weeks delay but I told him we needed the Verada for the kids needs , goes to show in most peoples opinion car salesman are second in line behind child molesters in peoples hate list .Howard

Speaking of out of line, I'm told my van was made within the last 2 weeks. It's supposed to be HERE by now. Instead its sitting on a dock in Germany.
Have had conversations with new salesman (last one bailed) about my need for a functioning trade vehicle considering the old one is leaking tranny fluid and developing faults with each passing week. Verbally endorsed VW and/or dealership keeping my old van running at their expense, however I suspect its all been pandering. Emailed salesman on Monday requesting a written reply that should my van fail before arrival of new van, they will repair it at their cost.
Still waiting for a reply.
Will cancel the order this week, and transfer it to another dealer. I don't like getting dry humped. How about a reach around?

Auto transmission decided it will only go into gear from standstill if given a bunch of rpms, making it bang and take off in an unpredictable manner. Limped it to the dealer and he got me a laon VW Caddy straight way, which is so small I had to do two trips to get my tools home, and cannot transport my ladders & conduit. So as a tradesman I'm screwed.
Awaiting dealer mechanics report when they have a look at the old T4 tranny. If patchable then I'll keep using the old girl, if not dealer has to arrange a hire of loan van.
I'm told the new van should be here late January. I've read the contract, and now that the vehicle is over 14 days overdue, I have the legal right to cancel the order & receive a full refund of my deposit. Interesting....

Update:
Van arrived at dealership 03-02-2012. Went in to see it that afternoon. I've seen it, it exisits, I'm reasonably sure it was not a dream.
However, despite assurances that almost everything had been done at factory, it will not be ready for at least another two weeks.
Needs:
Left & right rear glass to be ordered & fitted.
Tinting all glass.
Painting alloys.
RVC not factory fitted (found out this is due to a post Japan eathquake shortage) See post on this odd factory response
Roof racks ordered but not suitable, ordered a different set.
Not sure weather premium blutooth fitted...
Tow bar fitted (my add on - why not, won't slow it down much more....
Anyway, almost 9 months by the time its done.
Lesson: next time I order a van, order it 1 year before you want/need it.
