The official; I've ordered a new Multivan, Caravelle, Transporter thread

Glass was initially spec'd as locally fitted (despite being a VW option) then told it would be factory done,
then find out it's not been done & will be locally done. The same chop & change story occurred with almost
everything. Dealers are clueless.

Yes, I'll be ordering a new one (if I haven’t given up on VW) in the fourth year to allow 1 year for delivery.
Lets face it, I can order a new Ferrari or a yank custom built prime mover and get it delivered quicker.
Sad reflection on VW.

One week on from it arriving here, still nothing done to it. Still sitting there in the rain.

I can feel your frustration. It's almost like the order book for aircraft, VW, the Boeing/Airbus of cars.... I might tell the dealer that I'll put my deposit in a jointly held trust account so that I can earn a years interest.

Hahaha - I like that idea. Should be about $240 interest from a $5k deposit, or better if you do a term deposit.

Being "self employed" & ordering a $75k custom van scares the crap out of wage slaves,
so he asked for $5k upfront, which I casually dropped on his lap.... I make more per week
than they do in a month.

Two weeks on from it arriving here, still nothing done to it. Promises of everything being completed Wednesday 22nd February.
Don't know what that means. Completed by Wednesday arvo? Mine by Wednesday arvo? From this dealer its meaningless anyway.

Phone call again yesterday. Parts all here. Glass to be fitted today. Camera & racks sometime this week. Wheels to be stripped of rubber & painted between Friday & Monday. Another "next week" phone call. So it will now be 4 weeks after arrival for handover, MAYBE!

how many pallets will it fit? seriously though, is it just me or does this look not much bigger than a caddy?

I considered making an EV from a T4 LWB with a bung petrol engine some years back. I would have done the same thing with 4x wheel motors & a lithium pack. Even then, it would have to be a 2-300klm trip a day van, and some days I can do 400-800klm round trips.

Its got some nice features. I see the obligitory mushroom stop button in the centre console, funny - don't see the run away Toyota Camry petrol car with one of those...
Light weight plastic panels & glass would help the design. Overall, it would be perfect for the city/urban market. I'm considered rural hence the 4Motion for dealing with mud, dirt & other slippery days.

Still nothing. Was promised today would be it - delivery day. Nothing. Not even a phone call.

6 weeks since arriving at the dealer:

Had to call them on Thursday - they cocked up and bought the wrong harness for the RVC. More delays.

TJM employed some monkeys to fit the rear glass, who then scratched the paintwork, floors & seats.
Failed to paint the fresh cut steel which is a tops move in tropical Cairns.

Was supposed to call back Friday, was I surprised to hear no phone call? Not at all.
