After a previous shortlived & aborted attempt at ordering a new T5.2, pre-deposit whilst the dealer searched for a suitable van, we've now comitted with a deposit on a new 103TDI Comfortline .... ETA November 2010.

Since it is a special order, its a 4 month wait from now till delivery ....

Well today we ordered our 2010 103kW Comfortline Multivan from Trivett Volkswagen at Blacktown. They're in the Honda dealership on Sunnyholt Road and have only just started selling Volkswagen.

Not sure when delivery will be until the order has been processed. Wes advised he'd know the delivery date within 10 days. Probably towards the end of the year because we've ordered options. If we wanted Reflex Silver Metallic with no options Wes has one coming in this week and will be ready by the weekend. But we really wanted the options and the Natural Grey Metallic so we'll wait a few months for it.

How good is Wes from Trivett at Blacktown, Wes called me on Friday and told me his ordered a Multivan in the Dark Wood (pearl) with the same options I ordered on the Natural Grey we have ordered. Wes told me that if we wanted to wait the week between when the natural Grey arrived and the Dark Wood we could check it out and take our pick. We really wanted to see what the Dark Wood looked like but no dealer had one in stock.
We really like the Natural Grey and I don't think we'd stray from it but it's still very nice to have the option.
Still waiting for the delivery date which should be advised this week. It's still going to be later this year so finding out now or a week or so won't make any difference. Ok I lie, it's still nice to know when it's arriving so I can mark it off in the calendar.

Thought I'd update the thread and keep the ball rolling. We have changed our order.
We have taken the plunge and have ordered the 132kW 4motion, took the table out of the order but otherwise same options.

Originally I wanted the 4motion but it was too expensive until the drive away deal came in and the price of the 132kW dropped. Coupled with my employee discount because we have Volkswagen as fleet cars I decided to order up and get what I originally wanted.
We go camping and will start travelling to the snow a few times per year and also want to travel around Tasmania next year and the 4motion will definitely get used.

Wes informed us that Germany doesn't start making MY11 models until August so no word on delivery date yet but I'm expecting a longer delay now, i.e. change order and a 4motion. Not worried about the delay as it will be all the more sweeter when it arrives.

Got told yesterday that my 103TDI will be built Week 38 with ETA on delivery December 2010. I still have an oppertunity to upgrade the order to a 132TDI and am seriously considering it. Specs will be otherwise identical. ETA on the 132TDI's delivery will be Feb 2011 .....

Question ... DO I do it ????

Do it mate, you don't want to be slower than me, when I order mine in 2 years time. Just imagine the tuning potential of the twin turbo and grip of 4Motion gives you in wet conditions I still enjoying very much mine when it rains (it is like game suddenly changed when the road is flooded)!

Also having a 4Motion and 128kW makes me feel less wanted to upgrade now and I will happily wait for T6. It could be the same in your situation, if you order 132kW 4Motion.

I'd do it if you can afford it. It's one of those things you don't want to wish you'd done and the wait isn't that long, i.e Dec to Feb. If you had to wait until June or July that would be a different story.

I'd wanted the 132 with the 4motion to begin with but before the drive away deal came along it was too expensive. Price drop and I jumped at the 132 with 4motion. It's going to lovely being able to power up those hills with the family (5 of us in total) and the holiday gear in the Multivan and not be over taken like I am in the T3.
Looking forward to all the places we'll travel and the camp sites we'll visit. Trip around Tassie, out to Orange for the food and wine festival, Great Ocean Road. Obviously all not at once but we'll get there.

If you go to VW Australia website and download the Transporter brochure there is a picture on page 25 showing the wooden floor option for a T5.
