Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

How are you going to get them on the front - some serious guard work?

9's will fit depending on offset and tyre size you run. I can tuck 8.5's no issues.... Thats rim too.

I dont know how they can do a downpipe for 450, it is about 200 for a cat, 80 for a flex, plus bends, gaskets, flanges, it would cost that in parts and it would take them a while to get it all together, take the old one off too 5 hours maybe @70 a hour or less, which is around $800-900
he said 500 max so if he quoted short then that his fault

and those wheels are pure sex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Good to see the Polo forums back in full swing...

Awesome rims, My 8" wide on a fairly low ride height have about 5mm either way between poke and scraping the struts occasionally.
Thats for KW struts and strictly legal poke, so there is more play to be had. I can't see the 9's fitting without a little poke or some arch rolling work, that being said I'm applying some truck liner / sound proofing tar in my wheel arches today and I can definately say they will be fairly easy to work with. From the bonnet edge to the wheel arch is a single rolled piece without any seam or structure to get in the way.

Awesome times gents, I like playing in cars, but you guys are faster than I'll ever be...

As for sound proofing, 1sqm of cheap dynamat stuff and 3sqm of 6mm medium density foam have gone into my car, along with 1L of sound deadening paint for the front wheel arches. Getting rid of the road noise and a few suspension noises. the little toy will never be quiet, but its much better.

In total, I think I'll be adding 4kg and removing upto 15db of peak road noise.

Still loving the N75 Race, have not found anything not to like about it yet.

Anyone looking to work on the stock sound system, deaden the front doors and panel where the rear doors whould be (on the 3 door) the bass is much nicer.

Anyone know what the white plastic screw clippy things for the interior trim are called? Think i shoulg get some new ones for future interior work...

sorry dude, but you should have kept them the OG gold. Would have looked ace. Black just doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid.

                    • Looking good. What's the ET front and rear? And are the tyres 215/40?

                      Cheers

                      • Fronts are a ET48 with 18mm spacer 7.5 inch wide, rears were a 48 offset with a 6 inch barrel and 3 inch lip and a 215.

Pics dont do it justice, even the guys who did them couldnt believe how good the look.
Big thanks to Advance tyres in Richmond who fitted the tyres when no one else would, they loved the wheels so much they fitted it for free.

No side on pics yet, rears look really agressive but fronts dont, think it needs to be lower in the front and some camber to get it looking good.

                          • LM's are hard to find in a 5X100. You will be paying close to $2000, and most are not perfect. My ones only look good because the rears are so wide, if I just had 7.5 all around it would look very, well normal lol

They cost me over 3K all up

                            • To get perfect setup you also need camber front and rear, coilovers to get the right height, spacers etc

                              • Looks awesome, I hope the rubbing is minimal and it does not bother you.

Sorry mate, just read it again, you're running 9's in the rear and 7.5's up front?

I'm not a fan of black wheels in general, but it works well on your car, just have to keep them shiny.

I love white wheels, but don't have the patience or enthusiasm to keep them clean.
