I'm a little confused as to how people push an extra 10kw on a standard tune...
Personally, I use advanced timing, better flow from the intake and a custom dump. They have helped, but I doubt I'd be seeing 140.
Obviously a good exhaust, etc would make a difference, but if its on a generic APR, Giac stage 1, etc, I'm not convinced that the extra power is there.
I tried a MBC, cranking the pressure on the diverter, etc, but the ECU didn't like it and pulled timing to keep safe. The best results I've had from the Butt Dyno was removed N112, N249, SAI and a few deg of timing added.
Still dreaming of a Hybrid turbo, but really cant justify the few thousand for an extra 30kw. May go for a custom map, the hardware has more potential than my tune does.

Don't mean this offensively. You're not a tuner. GIAC/APR/etc are. They know what they are doing, they know what parameters to change. Your going off "what you have read" and calculated. They use knowledge and experience.Originally posted by noone View PostI'm a little confused as to how people push an extra 10kw on a standard tune...

Her polo can easily get over the 145 mark. As i say to everyone, its not always about how many you change your tune as well as modifications. Its about doing things right.
She only has a downpipe fyi as well. No full exhaust, no bigger injectors, nothing dramatic other than a FMIC.What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Off topic I think but I'll ask anyway. My 2002 polo hasn't been driven in 3 weeks and as a result has a flat battery.
Can I use normal jumper leads from one car to another to jump start it? Or would I be better off with a self powered jumper pack (not sure what they are called sorry)?
Is there an order which you should connect the battery up when you do this? How long should I run the car for to return the battery to full charge? Should it be driven or just idle to do this?
I don't really want to buy a new battery as I am trying to sell this car at the moment. Thanks in advance or your advice.

Connect it to another car, let the other car on and run for a few mins and kick it over..
Would advise going for 45m-1hr drive to charge it afterwards properly..What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Thank you for the prompt response. Just on a side note, the car doesn't get driven very often. How often should it be driven to avoid this occurring again.Originally posted by fuzion View PostConnect it to another car, let the other car on and run for a few mins and kick it over..

Hard to say mate..
Problem is they have a life span of 3 years normally. After that you will find trouble with it if you don't regularly drive it (clearly you don't right now).
So maybe every 2-3 days give it a quick start and run for only a few short mins i suppose. But realistically maybe once a week or 2 weeks should be fine. Luck of the draw for you right now? What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

I would think run it for more than just a few minutes; I've been told it can take as long as 15 min to return to fully charged after the drain of a cold start, depending on the condition of the battery. Drive it for about 20 or longer, just to be sure.2007 VW Polo GTi, white, standard. First registered in Japan, imported to NZ 2010. Owned since Dec/10. Love at first drive.
