Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      • That looks hot Sean - black and red is a stealth looking combination!!

My polo today got a thorough clean!! Took about 3hrs all up.. washed, vacuumed, clay bar-ed the car and gave it a nice wax.. My pogo is so shiny!!

Hopefully it still looks good tomorrow after school and I'll take some shots - I've got some now in the garage but the pictures don't do it justice..

        He's so smooooove and shiny!!

I go up the coast a fair bit, our unit block has a car wash bay. My Polo thanks me, except I find a new imperfection in the paint every time I wash it

We've got a water tank here, should you feel the need to join next time we wash our cars Jas!

Installed my SEAT intake on Saturday and looked at installing the TIP and went "I'll do that next weekend" lol.

                      • Excuse my ignorance MissVuks, but what is 'clay bar'

                        • Clay bar is like the consistency of blu-tack and removes contaminants sitting above the clear coat.

You see it picking up all the grime and dirt that normal washing doesn't remove. I thought i was pretty thorough at washing my car but on some areas, obviously the clay bar begs to differ..

I bought mine in a meguiars pack with some detailing spray. Give the panel a generous spray, flatten out a piece of the clay to about a 3-4cm circle and smooth it over the panel. It makes the car feel like glass when you compare it to the other panels.

Some others might be able to add more - QUESTION - how often can you clay bar your car? Its a pain in the rear end lol requires some effort so hopefully its not too often..

They came with centre caps but I'm getting VW centre cap's off ebay so hopefully they'll look ok.

Love your enthusiasm Lora Re your question, you only clay it before you polish it. You won't need to do it for 12 months or so unless you park under trees etc.
