  • So the low down;

Schroth won't recommend either the standard or pro quick fit for the 9N3 - sounds like ass covering given the 9N is OK.
They won't ship the pro outside of the US - I suspect this is due to the use of a cam buckle. So if you want one you've got to buy from a US retailer which will be about $480 AUD + shipping.
I'd prefer the pro so I can add HANS.

Anyway all that being said I'm throwing it in the too hard basket and getting a cglock.
I'm not spending near on $500 on a 4 point harness at the moment.
Maybe I'll cheer myself up a bit and buy that suspension I had my eye on.

      • put the second spring in the kit into my wastegate actuator. Now up from 7psi to 12psi on the actuators spring pressure. Had to adjust my n75 bypass to flow a lot more air around the solenoid to keep peak boost under control so there must have been lots of waste gate creep previously on the 7psi spring. I think the n75 might nearly be redundant , probably only having an influence for a handful of psi between waste gate crack and peak boost. High rpm boost maintains longer and steadier without the boost gauge needle wobbling around like before. Will be interesting to see if traction control/esp influence is as full on as before ie if it partly came from boost cut then at least I can't sink below 12psi now.

          • I'd have to agree. It's always 'too much' and 'too expensive' until someone has a decent stack and goes home (or doesn't get to go home) due to injuries sustained which could have been prevented for $1500.

If you wanna go fast, play safe.

            • High horse much?

You must be fun at track days waving your finger at everyone who doesn't have the race seats, harnesses, roll cages in the daily driver
              i.e., everyone
Don't forget to ask where their full suit is?
Maybe point out how their 1kg fire extinguisher is completely useless in the event of a fire!

I haven't made my car inherently more dangerous by opting to not fit a harness that the manufacturer won't ship to Australia and will not recommend for fitment in my car.
Up until that point I guess I'll just have to make do with the factory provided seat belt and air bags.

Yes, i did track my polo. Yes, i also fitted a seat and harness for the weekend. Thankfully there is a spare set at home which makes these parts accessible for me.

All I said was to play safe - and secondly, be aware of the risks!

Work car, a new MQ Triton. I do work for ARB though, so it'll be covered in all the gear which i'd otherwise not be able to afford.

I'll have to get used to a different type of performance!

                        • I advertised the tasty bits a while ago - Recaros, Stack gauges etc.

                          Nobody wanted them.

Was a bit late on the gauges

                            • A good car day today. Installed new FARB droplinks and thank f#&k it took care of my last front end noise. I'd actually had a good look at the old droplinks back when I did the FARB and one of them had barely perceptible movement in it - its amazing the racket that they were able to make, I thought a control arm was about to fall off! anyway fixed and silent at last haah
Then drove (silently) down to Camden GTI and managed to source a set of early S3 rims 16 X 7 ET35 already painted matt black for me and for nearly what I was prepared to pay for an extra Polo rim so happy with that. Now for tyres!!
