The engine mounts look the goods, not sure about the expoxy on the shifter links though

Should you ever want to replace them with the actual solid ones, those once will be a fair mission to get out without snapping the whole assembly.

ill buy new ones when it comes time but im pretty sure they will hold up for a long time.

After putting it off for a while, I replaced my thermostat (was stuck open). Much better now, gets to temp in the time it should and stays there. Access to the lower bolt is so restricted but I got there in the end ��

Sweet! I was hoping dani_ric might get a back door into a ferrari drive (since redbull will have their motor next year) but seeing him drive for VW could be cool.

Bought and fitted up a fire extinguisher bracket. Was one of those would have cost me more on all fronts to do it DIY. Fitted up to the passenger seat rail. Looks neat and tidy will post a photo later.
Also picked up a spare set of stock rims today. Will probably fit up some re003s or similar. I've got a couple of trackdays coming up so this will help manage my tyre wear a bit better.
Suspension should be next up.

Booked into to finally have my turbo replaced, only to find out 15 day lead time on an OEM, and will be several thousand at that. Back to babying it A to B until I find a replacement... turbo, not car.

At least I had a full service and battery replacement done today too.

Haven't even looked at the car for nearly 6 months due to work, so just did a big service and fixed a few things.

Electrical issues
Had the same electrical issue rear it's ugly head again with power steering, ABS, ESP failing; and now the handbrake light flashing too! Check out the video:

The fix was easy - spray electrical contact cleaner on the power steering control module connectors - problem solved. There is obviously some kind of inherent fault here either in the control module or the connections, so I'll eventually get around to have an auto electrician fix it (I'm going to move the battery to the boot anyhow, so while this is being done I'll get it looked at).

Battery/electrics
Whoever at VW decided it would be a great idea to put all the plastic **** all over the battery should be murdered! Ending up pulling a bunch of the plastic out in prep for eventually moving the battery, cleaning up the fuse area and installing a BMC intake (not to mention getting started on a bit of a wire tuck job to clean up the engine bay).

Stereo
While I had the battery out the factory stereo reset itself and asked for the factory pin. I couldn't locate it so it forced me to get off my arse and install the cheap Pioneer double din setup I bought online a while ago (and promptly forgot about!). This was probably the EASIEST install I have ever done thanks to the CANBUS adaptor I got on Ebay. It was literally a 5 minute plug and play job. Doesn't look too bad for a cheapy:



Timing belt
Getting the timing belt sorted this week (thanks to Gav for organising parts many eons ago).

Coilovers
Started to get moving on purchasing coilovers. Currently looking at MCA blues or Bilstein.

Kiwi 2 Wifi OBD dongle
Decided to grab one of these while they are on special ($69). Works well with Dash Command, Harry's Lap Timer, etc.

Now to get ready for upcoming happy laps

finally packed all my stuff away after Sundays run in the King Edward Park hillclimb. Was an epic day at an epic event. Sadly it was the last one that will ever happen after 57 years. Was a pretty daunting circuit with blind corners, pitch black shadows, no grip and guaranteed damage if you get out of shape - really rewarding when you nail it

Doesn't it get in the way, sticking out so far?
That's why I made mine in 2 pieces so the permanently installed section is tucked down below the drawer and the bracket holding the extinguisher itself is removable.

Just got the car back on the road after fitting a MK4 Gti Aluminium radiator, the Vibratechnics engine mounts, deleted more of the coolant lines and fitted an inline radiator tank and hid all the wiring on the drivers side in the engine bay, also picked up some 6R polo Gti Detroit's

If anyone gets stuck in this situation, I found the code is provided to the unit via the canbus, it doesnt work until you start the car then stop, then start it again.

Good to know if you have just removed your stock polo head unit and cant find the pin

My front passenger seat gets shifted all the way back at times to fit things in plus I use the underseat drawers a lot.

Can you remove the Kap bracket without removing the front seat bolts and loosening the rears? I found that to be a pain which is why I have the low fixed bracket that is totally out of the way.
