Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not for £560, no. As a street car, I can't justify more than that.
A diff of some sort would be a far better investment if I really wanted to go fast.
I did the mini nationals in an overweight 998 mini two weeks ago, and was significantly faster than many other 'better' cars. It's not, and will never be, all about the spec sheet.Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.

THS intercooler from Greg(Redliner) fitted, thanks Greg
But the fuel filter is getting in the way of the outlet pipe
Easily solved by using a rubber hose from the SMIC (45 degree maybe)
Getting some proper piping from eBay
Also EGR deleted, along with the EGR cooler
Happy with the result
The little tractor feels more responsive from low rev, and more crispier
But getting this rough idle, could be the ECU is trying adapt the new setup
Now I have to start waiting for the tune from Gavin (impatiently)

So there was a blue moon and I checked my tyres pressures. The TPS that went off last night wasn't lying, like I thought. 20mm long bolt through the middle of the left rear tyre.
Fitted the spare, for the first time ever by the looks of things.
Trip to the menders tomorrow.
Also, re-did the wiring to my oil pressure gauge. Seems to work ok but needs a longer trip to confirm all is well.

Received the TIP from Gav during the week so decided to book the morning of Saturday in my garage to fit the thing.
After a bit of reading about how much of a bhitch it is to fit I was a little apprehensive but jumped in anyway.
Put the car on stands up front and got down underneath it. In all honesty, getting the stock one off was the hardest part of the process.
Getting the new one on was simple. This could have been because it's a 2nd hand piece and already stretched to fit.
The power is now delivered much more smoothly. There's less of a spike in boost and the power up top is much stronger and reliable. Overall driveability is better and the spool noise is well up on before.
Happy chappy.

I'd agree with 2nd hand being pre-stretched, but thats because I had an arse of a time and don't like the idea someone else could do it so much easier.
Can't wait to get some properly sticky rubber and new brakes on and track the thing.

I know it's a pain, Jason, but I think you've made the right choice. There are so many 9N3 GTi's for sale now that you wouldn't get near what it's worth.
In about a year's time, I'll be kicking myself for not buying your front brakes...Resident grumpy old fart
